I bought this album when it came out in '74 @ the record store in Landover Mall. I was a young soldier & I was experiencing my very first love. It truly was a very precious time. When I first listened to this song it seemed to describe her to a tee. She sometimes wore a pony tail & I still have a photo of she & I as she was wearing a beautiful pink dress, pony tail & her wonderful smile. I dedicated this song to her back in '74. We remain friends to this day though the relationship did not last. I re-dedicate this timeless jewel to my "First Touch of Spring" my first love Miss Cynthia A. Glass. Thank You Brother Gil for the music & memories. & Te-Amo "Pooh". Por Siempre, Por Siempre, Por Amor. "Tigger"

I had this album when it first came out. My ex boyfriend used to play my album and sing it all the time and make us listen like he was performing a show. He knew all the lyrics. Listening now all these years later I can appreciate the great Gil Scott Heron even more. I did get to see him live maybe 5-6 years before he passed at a jazz club (Blues Alley) and he was great. It brought back my memories to all those years ago, 1974. RIP Mr. Heron.💕

Each time i listen to this i'm transported back to the days of my first and only beautiful girlfriend. She had a pony tail and there was a touch of spring as we walked through the grassy trail. Miss her so much love u Brianna🌷💜 people today wont understand the love we shared and the love that could've been. Its Sad what the world has come to on the subject of relationships.

I love this cut. I think his voice was recorded very well, on a decent hi-fi system the realism sounds very good.

One of the most talented and intuitive poets of the 20th Century. Like Donald Byrd (who passed away yesterday), Gil laid down the soundtrack of my youth. They say the election of Obama brought in and era hope. But that's what the 70s meant to US - endless possibilities, profound hope. As a Black girl became a Black woman, I couldn't have asked for a better time to "be". A very precious time, indeed. RIP Gil and Donald.

Gailt1956, You captured Gil & our era perfectly. Not only was Gil a poet, he was also a prophet You have a kindred spirit in this old soldier. Peace Go With "U" My Sister.

Share in the light sister, the good thing about the light is, when you share it, unlike money, it increases. Share the light. A soldier from those times.i

Let me wake up next to you once more before my deployment , have a strong cup of coffee, dress and wander through the city streets with your hand in mine, pick up the car then take a "Early Morning Drive" in the county and make love down by the lake and greet the day in a happy state of mind with you next to me before I go. ( For the man and women on duty over seas ) Thank You for Your service.
