NBA players play 41 road games, sometimes back to back. It would not work but also be impossible to enforce on NBA players. Their union is also stronger and one player can make a difference about team rules. NFL players play once a week on a set day. There's also 53 players and not all of them play offense, defense, or special teams. Their union is weak, their pay is not guaranteed, they can be cut in a second, and there is only one important position on the team. A lot easier to control.
