Vlad completely took this question and made it about him. Gil couldn’t even complete his thought about why there’s boredom and etc after retirement. It’s impressive how Vlad can just find ways to make interviews about him and him having money.

There's a reason why Kobe stressed the importance of finding a new passion WHILE in the NBA. Because this is bound to happen if u dont. For Kobe it was film and he won an Oscar, for MJ it was Golf and Business, for Kanye it was Fashion, for George Foreman it was Grills/entrepreneurship. It's about self-respect and waking up happy. In the book the Art of Mastery Robert Greene talks about this in depth. Doing something that YOU enjoy consistently even if you have to pivot a career, dream, or goal helps you become HAPPY.

The man got a lot of material stuff, half of which he don’t even use, isn’t stressed about money and can afford most expenses if necessary. But he still miserable and angry deep down. No friends, his wife unhappy, me and my siblings don’t interact w him half the time cuz of his bad attitude, he hasn’t seen the rest of the family in years, does the same exact thing every day and stays home 99.9% of the time

70 to 80% of professional athletes go through a divorce within five years after they retire. That's because of variables: 1) All the cheating the player did, she's NOT willing to take that now..especially since there's no SERIOUS income coming in. 2) The player is no longer gonna be in the limelight so he becomes an unknown 3) The player has to downgrade because the BALLERS life cannot be supported on the money he has or the little crumbs he's getting. So now it's time for her to bounce. Oh...and over 70% of divorces are started by the female.

@@navytanutrof1823 Yeah it's def a two way street. The biggest thing IMO is a baseline level of RESPECT is ESTABLISHED and MAINTAINED throughout the duration of when you got into the arrangement/partnership. Most men and women ain't Honest and Upfront about their Wants and Desires and hide/suppress it until the TRUST between the two is broken. Once that is gone then the respect goes and women will STAY in the relationship to destroys the image of what you once were in the beginning and leave you with extreme prejudice for the next guy who fulfills those very qualities that attracted her to you in the first place. NBA guys meet most of the physical qualities but it's that mental fortitude and the ones willing to walk away from the girl that separates the boys from the men.

This is alot of people not just with sports but life. You go to school all your life and get out and have a job . Then a lot of people get to their early to mid 30s and realize that routine isn’t for them. And their back at square one. This why my kids are not doing school after 18 . Figure out you as person first

some people aren't built to be happy sitting at a cubicle/desk all day, yet these are the jobs that everyone is encouraged to seek. But at what cost? Being unhappy for decades? to your point, you need to find out what type of activities you're content with

Same thing for me. After College Quarters was done and I was on summer break. I just existed and it was depressing. I came to the conclusion that life is about purpose and I wrote down things I wanted to do and achieve and just focused on that.

That's why as a professional athlete you gotta have a plan for after retirement. Are you going to become an announcer for sports? Are you going to dealing with your kids drop off to school and pick up? Are you going to be running businesses? Working with charities?

I always wondered how pros felt after retiring. This confirms everything I was going through. I was a high level high school athlete, but I decided not to play football in college. That first fall after that desicion not to play, the smell of the grass in the fall would always have me thinnking about getting ready for fall practice, but I had nothing to do but go to school. It was weird to have that feeling and missing the game...I would always imagine how someone that made it to the pro level would feel if I had all those weird feelings just from middle and high school playing ball. Even to this day, I still get those feelings each fall...it's all about those scents and your body wanting to do what you used to do on the regular.
