It is ignorant and backwards to think that getting assistance for your parents is a lesser option. If you're unavailable 24hrs a day it would stupid to not get assistance. Pride is why many people don't take advantage of it and also this self righteous attitude that shames people who can't stay home to help their loved ones because they have to much going on. I love seeing Americans going to the motherland. I'm Somali, all I heard growing up was 'Somalia is a war torn country' then you go there and people leave their jewelry/wads of CASH on the street and go pray every afternoon and at 5pm. That's twice a day, they leave everything they're selling at the market and go pray, no one steals anything. Yes, Somalia has CIA/MI5 and every white spy agency doing covert ops there but the Somali people, it is all about love.

This is exactly how I felt in Nigeria. Can't nobody tell me nothing about Nigeria. I've been there several times. I'm stuck! I love it there. I love the people. I felt the most free I've ever felt in my life. I'll deal with all the inconveniences. The lights going out, the low water pressure, the traffic, whatever. Nigeria got my heart. 💛

Dope video! I’m a Nigerian rapper myself, and I got into Symba’s music after a friend showed me the “Top G” music video he & Damicool shot in Lafiaji here in Lagos🔥🔥 he told me they only had about 6 hours to plan and make it happen! That’s dope. Yes, the problems with the unsafe water are unfortunately a thing in some parts of Lagos Island, I’m guessing he was staying in some part of Lekki. But the mainland? We good over here😄😄 our water is pristine. Maybe peeps can stay on the Lagos mainland when they visit. There’s a whole other beautiful side of Lagos a lot of visitors haven’t seen! Much love!

Yes but for different reason. In Africa we ware Jewelry for its elements. Our body is made of the enzymes and minerals, wearing precious metals and stones help regulate or balance our body. Specially yellow gold (AU) is the scientific name if I am not mistaken. Also we resource them ethically. We don’t rob our earth. The earth is part of us too. The reason he stop wearing is he doesn’t find value on showing off wealth anymore.

Slavery and Colonization has done a number on all Black people. I don't even know a group of people that went through this kind of trauma. Stripped of our identity to the core. Too much trauma on both sides self-hate and hate among one another. It's great to see Black people building bridges across the Diaspora. Slowly but surely things are changing.

Facts!! They took our brothers and fed them lies against us and their continent. After that they leave them in their country and go back to Africa to enrich themselves with the resources of their land then come back to lord it over them. They never thought a day will come when our people will know that their land is the powerhouse of the globe where they get the resources for their inventions.. Some even hustle the people in the US under disguise of being missionaries in Africa and they stay in the cities and live large in Africa while occasionally going to the villages to post poverty on social media, They will never show you the best side of the Mother land

I'm so emotional watching this right now. My husband and I have been discussing what it will take for us to move our family from the states to Africa. I've had this constant tug at my soul to return home and it won't go away until I get back. I was birn in the states as most of my family tree but I know this isn't home and there's a tug. I loved the analogy of the child separated from it's biological parent because that's how I feel. I believe James Baldwin said it best. To be African American is to be African without any memory and American without any privilege. It's time to get back to my people ❤

Everyone thought I was crazy flying to Nigeria by myself. I was filled with anxiety about so many things that could go wrong. That trip totally altered my perception on so many things. There is so many images and ideologies we are fed we are not even aware of as African Americans because we have not seen nor gone to where we decedent from. Blown away by the rich culture, phenomenal genetics and a region so diverse with resources. I highly encourage anyone to go who has the resources.
