The Olympics is going to make money whether we watch or not. The Olympics are not just about which country has to best in sports, but its political as well. That’s why the German President would shake Jessie Owens hand. It’s about who’s the most superior as well. People need to stop, especially these media and podcast hosts, because they know the USA Olympics Committee couldn’t give a damn about CC or Angle Reese because they already have their money in the bank 😂 They couldn’t give a damn about the W either. Great comment until your Jordan comment. The league is in a much better place now than then. The league doesn't want to make any wild rich kid the face of a multi billion dollar industry. Most players they get behind are married and not out clowning. They've done a horrible job marketing the great young international talent in the league. We've seen this before. Tiger and the PGA. The WNBA should be poster children for the mental illness pandemic in the country. The youngsters get their parents to buy the shoes and the youngsters always drive the narrative. Old men stop watching and down the young generation and talk about how great theirs was.

LeBron was the biggest star post-MJ, yet the '20 Finals averaged only 7.5M viewers, with millions locked down at home. Jordan's '98 Finals averaged 29M, with 2 billion less people on Earth, and far fewer TVs and no streaming options. This is a complex issue why NBA viewership has fallen off, but the attitude of players now that was allowed by Silver is a huge factor. The player empowerment movement saw stars jump team to team in their primes, and sit out games just to rest, two uncommon occurrences for previous eras that were paid far less. Maybe simply promoting the current and rising superstars, international or US, would have averted this all. The Last Dance had viewership close to the '24 Finals. I think your view on who should be promoted is almost too focused grouped - the 65 game All-NBA rule is a step in the right direction. Perhaps giving larger max salaries to guys on their original teams would help too, promoting loyalty. Just ideas, I'm Lebron's age but feel like a lot of his career post-Decision shaped the league into what it is now, and that's a worse product to watch than Kobe and Jordan's eras I saw.

Let's be real. The WNBA is a business that has been failing ever since it's conception. It literally has not turned a profit ever in the 25+ year history. Right now, due to Clark, it FINALLY is catching eyes and actually selling out arenas... and women hate her instead of value her. Also, she has proven she is a top talent in the WW. No shade on Reese game, she’s good. But CC is the reason for the explosion. When professionally analyzed, any other good metric not directly related to CC, can be traced to secondary “wake” effects. If CC didn’t exist, Reese would be just another great basketball player coming out of college into a struggling league. (I wish it weren’t so)
