This is amazing content Gil. Question. Do you think teaching moves with a mental clock (eg. "1, 2, 3" / "boom, boom, boom") can handicap you later? If a guy develops a set rhythm with his moves then he'll start signposting instead of reacting to the defender. Is it better to have them figure out without the cadence or for them to get the feel with real reps?
@kickgamesoccer23608 ай бұрын

the game is played in rhythm so having him start with a mental clock gives him structure (if u wanna go baseline 1/3) u wanna go middle 2/4...the older he gets it becomes reaction

So I’m watching this video through the scope of an Exercise Science/Physical Fitness student and I’m incredibly impressed by the content. People need to understand that change, progress, strength is a process. The work to become better, great, or amazing needs to be done. No shortcuts. The mental is as important as the physical. Thank you for this video. I’d be ashamed to receive recognition without putting in the work. Sadly, everyone wants a shortcut and thinks they can pay for success without putting in the work. Also impressed that you didn’t encourage specialization at a young age-training in multiple sports helps create a well rounded athlete and reduces the risk of overuse injuries.

Man I appreciate this my son stated at 6 years old. I'm starting to see the progress in him. When I'm coaching him as a coach where he falls on the floor I run down the court where he fell and I say get your punk assss up off the floor ,he be so shooked as he is getting up he falls again 😂😂😂😂😂 I think that I started him wrong. I stated him shooting the ball and dribbling. I think I should starting him with the footwork 1st. The positive lessons he learned was shooting the ball correctly. He's dominant left handed but always shot the ball with his right hand. Now he's shooting the ball with his left hand & right hand at 8 yearsold. Im a Philly ball player trained by some of the greats Joe Jellybean Bryant and his brother in law Chubby Cox. I played for Overbook High School before getting kicked out for making bad decisions. Thanks for this masterpiece video, im ready to get in the lab right now with my son but, he's out of town. 😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂😂😂

I like the training with your son. Also I think Hakeem wasn't saying anything about them traveling because he was trying to get them accustom to the move first, he may have corrected them later. We wouldn't know because at some point the camera had to stop. This is maybe an hour of footage not a week's worth and I think the guys behind the camera was laughing because for a first timmer, the move following a made shot is difficult, especially from where the starting point was, they were damn near the three point line. Probably just funny to see these big ass guys missing lay-ups with no defender on them.

Aye Gil on that double spin down on the right side of the block when he spin the second time into a jumper tell him try 1 pound dribble right after the second spin when his foot hit into a lil step back maybe but the pound dribble has always helped me sell the drive on the spin then jumper.
