It depends. When you're in the top 5, you get to pick and choose. Even tho Khamzat's name is growing, he still wasn't as much of a draw as the Jorge draw. Gilbert fought Khamzat because he knew Khamzat was still green and would have been at his most beatable as of recent + Burns has kids to feed so he needs to keep the money coming in and they likely offered him a lot of money too. Once Khamzat is more experienced it was less likely to beat him and Burns said this in one of his interviews. The name of the game here is which match will generate the most PPV buys. Fighting Khamzat is not that big of a PPV just yet. No point in risking injuries fighting an opponent that will pay you less than an easier fight that will pay you more.

I agree with gilbert's outlook to an extent. For his career, the best thing that could happen is Usman wins. Colby hasn't done enough to force a trilogy with Usman. Meanwhile he's the only guy to really go all the way with Usman and make it competitive. That means there's a window of opportunity. Whereas is Edwards pulls it off, Colby is arguably the #1 contender, having been the only other guy to really survive (and imo beat in the 2nd fight) Usman. If Usman wins, Gilbert may deserve a 2nd shot at him. If not, he's certainly only 1 fight away from that 2nd shot.

This dude's striking is beautiful, better than his last two opponents' striking, he was just too small. Masvidal is big too but he's not as physically threatening as the other two and with a lackluster kick game, I think this will be Burns' opportunity to shine again. I don't even think he'll need to resort to his BJJ, I think he'll just piece up Masvidal on the feet.
