We are looking forward to staying in for our 1st time in December. Thank you

I live like 2 miles from there I hike around there all the time. Yes the poop pit stinks to hog heaven, depending on which way the wind blows so keep that in mine, we also have the wildlife museum and old Tucson and the desert Museum all within a 5 to 10 minute drive from each other so you got that going for you not to mention all types of hiking you have brown mountain right there next to it, you can hike up there but I would suggest carrying a firearm just in case the coyotes will not bother you, but there could be rattlesnakes maybe even a bobcat or even a mountain line all things to be aware of although I’ve never seen a mountain lion in this area but I’m sure they are around

We love that area too, I used to work for Pima County Parks and Recreation years ago while I was going to school there when you camp out there for free.. lol! Lots fun we had hiking around out there, the Desert Museum is one of the best. Thanks for watching 😊

Love the video. Will you be going back to Quartzsite? Hopefully we can see you there and maybe play some music. If you ever find yourself in Sierra Vista, please you let me know. My wife and I are both retired army. Take care and God bless.

The last time I was there the dump station was overflowing and full of flies. I think this was not the norm though.

You’re probably right, maybe had some staff problems or something.

it's a nice place but now it's taken over by the party crowd. I stayed here 3 nights last week (Sept 10-13, 2024) and it was HELL. Campers in B-3 were making so much noise, and were yelling and screaming between 5 and 6am. Constantly played w their car alarm. The last 2 nights there they began playing their sterero loud enough for me to hear it, even though our campsites were about 150 yards apart. They eventually brought a dog in - or did they have friends over? Not sure. Anyways every time the coyotes would start howling, the dog would start barking and it wouldn't shut up. IT SUCKED! I think part of the problem is that there is no longer a camp host. They used to have a campground host here, who was good, and would be patrolling the campground on a regular basis. Another person showed up the first night and blasted THEIR stereo from 9pm-12am, and then left, without paying for their site. If you want peace and quiet, this is probably no longer the place to do. Have a Plan B and a Plan C. I haven't been to Picacho Peak State Park's campground lately, but that could be an option. Not much wilderness out there between Marana and Tucson, and what there is, is in the midst of heavy smuggler's territory and are no longer safe. No staff on site at all except between Jan - Mar. That needs to change. BTW, right now H Loop is closed. So is C Loop.

Wow, this sounds like something that should be brought before Pima County P and R. There should be a host on site 24/7 and we've always seen them riding around and checking everything so I can't believe it was so unattended to with the noise issue. Did you try west of Marana out at Pump Station BLM? I stayed there in my truck last October and it was great - plenty of room and quiet!

@@chrisbarclay4257 I just found that out a month or two ago - not really too surprised though because it’s been happening with other campgrounds as well 😕

Staying here in January 2025 but now it’s $72.40 for two nights. Not the bargain it used to be. 😞

@@bethondrus4297 I’ve heard that it went up - guess I shouldn’t be surprised since most other places have as well. 😞

No showers no thanks.
@HolidayForTwo422 жыл бұрын
I get you, showers are nice to have - however I've stayed at campgrounds that charge much more with even fewer amenities than GR offers - it's getting harder to find campgrounds that are at least somewhat reasonably priced - if I have a choice, these days I prefer Boon-docking or dispersed camping over regular campgrounds anytime.
