Hi everyone, who needs to think about their knee work more?
@redhed97768 ай бұрын
as a senior golfer, my body doesn't work as fluidly as it once did. the "wiring" that delivers the impulses are OLD. Its hard for the young to understand THAT fact, and one that is TOTALLY ignored by 100% of coaches.

@@redhed9776 I coach a lot of senior golfers and have made videos specifically for senior golfers so if there ever was a coach who appreciated the body changes with age & that we must build swings around that then it is I

I agree with you Giles on the important role the knees play in the golf swing! The important thing about this is that one must stay centered in order to get the proper hip rotation which will lead to a more powerful swing! I like your alignment stick drill with the pushing up with the legs on the follow through. One I will definitely be using! Well Done Giles! Always look forward to you videos!

Excellent lesson, good for beginners and those who have played for decades. The pushing up and back with the trail leg on the backswing and up and back with the lead leg on the downswing is totally consistent with the instructions from others like Dr. Kwon who my pro calls a genius, and also the extensive GEARS videos by Athletic Motion Golf. The one thing to stress, which you have previously stressed in a video on rotation if I recall, is that the lead hip moves back away from the target line, which creates space allowing the trail hip to turn straight through down the target line. The error that often happens is the player does not pull the lead hip back but only spins on it, while turning the trail hip in toward the ball . That throws everything off. It brings the right shoulder over the top, causing an out to in swing, or causes the player to stand up and early extend in trying to avoid coming over the top. If not already done, you might want to do a short followup video stressing how the lead hip must pull away from the ball. It is by the way very clearly visible in your final complete swing viewed from behind in this video. Your right hip moves straight down the line, not out toward the ball.

The trail hip works on an arc where it works out and across. And yes, I’ve gone through this other videos

Excellent as always. I really like the pull cord analogy on the backswing. Can you think of an analogy for the downswing

Excellent instruction, Giles! Biggest problem I have living in sunny Stirling, Scotland is playing on a regular basis. The weather is not golf-friendly, it's a sunshine game. When I was based in sunny Johannesburg I could have a swing fault and still play well..!

Can definitely get away with more swing faults when you’re playing regularly and your timing is good

0:31 At address, I try to knock my knees in a touch (although too much sometimes) to avoid the sway and get my feet feeling more pushing into the ground. I guess I should avoid that?

Struggle with turning chest thru impact. Tend to stop just before impact and flip instead of rotating. Do you have a drill for this problem ans have you done a podcast on this topic. Thanks. Doug

I don’t do podcasts and yes search through videos and you’ll find what you’re looking for

Sorry. I meant KZbin video cast. It looks like my hips do open up but can’t get the feeling of rotating my chest thru impact. I feel it’s more of a chest rotating issue, then hip turning?

Hey Giles, This is how I learned to hit many years ago from "Golf My Way" - Jack Nicklaus) and I played well over the years but with injuries to my right knee I can no longer push off from the right side with knees and ankles etc. I want too and when I do it hurts (a lot). I have been trying a hundred different ways to make some adjustments but at times I can barely hit the ball let alone get it in the center of the club...frustrating.

I've noticed that when I am on the range or in the backyard with no stakes I tend to rotate just fine in the backswing but when I am actually on the course my friends tell me I keep my hips steady, it's almost like under pressure I lock them up. Any tips for this?
