Agreed 100% He is just as culpable in everything that came after! Like they said, “had they actually put out an alert for a giant ogre of a man between 6’4 and 6’6 that drives a green Avalanche in Masepequa/Long Island” he would have been caught within a week or two. Instead, he got to keep doing his thing for an additional 10+ years. Absolutely disgusting, disgraceful, and unforgivable. Any of the police involved in covering it up and pushing the FBI out of the investigation deserves to have their freedom stripped for the remainder of their life.

easy to explain after you take away the conspiracies. I had such a room in the basement. I had a finished basement with a small corner computer room equipped with sound deadening material. The room was primarily used for gaming. It was my small space that no one bothered with. Rex had a walk in vault for his gun collection that was off limits. Nothing strange about that. At least the firearms were secured. If he's actually guilty of killing anyone, having a gun vault means absolutely nothing. So far, I haven't heard of any women he's accused of killing died by the use of any firearms. From what's been told to us, they were all strangled. People and the media are fixated on everything else but the actual killings. Who cares if he has a collection of guns, dolls, baseball cards, or old bubble gum wrappers.

All these victims were mentioned in the Shannon Gilbert case .Shannons mother believed a dr that lived in the area was responsible for her daughters death and she thought there was more than one person involved and that there was a cover up they made a book and a movie about it (lost girls) and there was an article about the movie called history vs movie the mother to the Gilbert girl filed a wrongful death against a dr Peter Hackett . They said she accidentally drowned but an independent autopsy shows she may have been strangled . The mother claimed the dr called her the day after and phone records showed he did . The article goes on to compare the movie and the facts including a 911 phone call from Shannon Gilbert . It was also believed that there may have been more than one person involved and maybe corrupt law enforcement. I will be watching this case unfold and comparing it to the information in the article

Police incompetence, complicity, connivance, and cover-up cannot be ruled out considering a clear description of an individual and vehicle given over 10 years ago. The nature of the work the missing ladies engaged in could also have contributed to the nonchalance, indifference, lukewarm attitude displayed by the police earlier in the investigation. Many questions need to be asked of and answered by the police.

I think the reason this case took so long to solve was due to the original corrupt police chief (James Burke) not allowing the FBI to assist in the investigation. Aside from the lack of attention from police likely due to the girls involvement in sex work, it seems as though the police chief was also trying to hide some major shady business as well. James was doing all sorts of terrible things and probably didn’t want the FBI digging around. James eventually got in trouble for beating a guy who was being interrogated after he stole a bag from James car. The guy who was beaten claims that the bag contained adult toys and a snuff film. Former police officers that worked with James have revealed that he would ask them if they’d ever seen a snuff film. It was almost as if he was asking so he could gauge whether or not they could be trusted, based off of their reactions. It could have been his way to determine who he could discuss (or maybe even participate in) his twisted fantasies with. This information combined with the fact that James was seeing escorts while on duty, plus allegations from a former escort who said James had paid for her services while at a party at Joseph Brewers house (where Shannon Gilbert was last seen) all came to light which caused him to be suspected by netizens of being involved in the murders or at the very least, helping to cover them up. James has a lot of other very suspect connections, I recommend the “Unraveled” & “LISK” podcast for more insight into this topic, they do an incredible job at explaining all of this. They have excellent interviews with friends & family members of the victims as well as the people who I mentioned above. When James essentially kicked the FBI out it raised a LOT of red flags. I’m unsure if they were trying to keep the FBI out to cover up the corruption occurring in the police department or for much darker reasons, either way it’s very suspicious. Once the police force underwent a major regime change the investigation began to find their suspect fairly quickly. The evidence (the description of Rex’s car) that ended up being the smoking gun used to find Rex had been sitting there the entire time. After years of no leads or suspects, the new task force came in and was able to put the pieces together within a few months. It really makes me wonder what the heck was Burke trying to hide? Perhaps it was his shady behavior, political corruption (James & now disbarred DA Thomas Spota’s relationship) and police corruption, or was it something much darker? 🤷🏼‍♀️ These are the questions myself and my others want answered. Sadly, I’m scared we may never get them.

HEY, WAIT A SECOND!! If it was just any porn, sure I could see that as a coincidence, BUT It wasn't just "porn videos and sex toys" The thief said that when he played one of the dvd's it was containing something so graphic that he had to close it down immediately. He said it was real and obvious snuff related with a female victim. If this is all true, then that brings it into a completely different category of coincidence and that kind of coincidence, I do not believe in at all! If I were to speculate, you all see where this could go.. If he enjoys that kind of porn, he could just as well have turned a blind eye, or even cover for the murders in exchange for all the latest copies of the recordings! But this is almost to sick to be possible, it's just impossible to ignore and they have to make sure this isn't the case.

I'm wondering if James Burke himself wasn't one of the killers. The police have stated in the past the killings were committed by more than one person. Is that why Burke beat the suspect for stealing his duffle bag that contained pornography and sex toys? Is it possible that there was evidence in that duffle bag that would have linked him to the other victim(s) that Heuermann wasn't charged with? I feel that's very possible. It would explain why that pissed him off so bad.

I am curious about the history of the guns. Knowing there was a corrupt cop during the time these women were killed it seems there could be some stories there. Also, Rex taunted the sister of one of the victims, and searched online about the Gilgo killings, I can’t help but wonder if those porn searches he did may have been some of his victims. Was there a ring that filmed and tortured the victims? I would hate to have to be the detective that has to watch those, maybe AI can do it. If there is indeed a connection to Shannon than it seems there could be a group working together because she expressed fear, not for her Jon, nor driver but for others she referred to as they, that tells me 4 may be involved. Maybe Rex was the keeper of the guns…I heard Rex shared a gruesome video with a coworker, maybe he was checking him out to see if he could include him? Anyway,I know it a lot of conspiracy theory but the title attracted me because I wonder about this stuff…. Thanks for trying to help us understand what happened.. He didn’t kill her…. Her case has always been separate - which is why no one talks about her in reference to this. None of the evidence matches up and it would have to be a massive coincidence for him to just happen upon her while she was outside in that neighborhood running around screaming. He would’ve also had to kidnap her in front of ppl as many in the neighbourhood heard her n were aware of what was going on. And she was found basically behind someone’s backyard… none of it would make sense for it to be this guy. The only way I could see it being him is if somehow they find a connection to him and the client that Shannon went to see the night she died (I don’t recall his name). If they can find a link between the 2 men, then MAYBE there’s a chance that there was more than one man at that house that night -- the client AND Rex. Shannon is high, freaks out, calls 911, and runs out of house n makes her way throughout neighborhood (keep in mind, her driver followed her through much of neighbourhood trying to get her in the car for safety but she kept running). Somehow Rex follows her without being seen while the other man remains at the home. Rex bides his time (shannon stopped for help at a few houses but in the end just ran off) and when she gets far enough that no one is around, he pulls her into the area she was found n kills her. But again, that’s getting into a completely unfounded theory n there’s so much that doesn’t line up in that theory. But that’s the only way I see him being involved… if he was at the house that night with the Shannon’s original client. But I highly HIGHLY doubt it.

But what if he was in his boat checking out his trophy garden, fishing or doing some duck hunting just before dawn and heard her screaming and running through the reeds. ..

The only connection Shannon has to this case (other than being an escort) is the close proximity of where she died (of natural causes) and to where several wrapped bodies, and body parts were found. If Shannon went missing say...in Fort Salonga, these bodies never would have been found.

@@aprilc3550 I definitely think it’s more to this it was to much of the same thing going on with different players at the same time… giving me the movie Gothika vibes

Most Long Island cops can be found drinking while “on duty” at your local volunteer firehouse. Open bar for them

They really blew this case 13 years ago. Those officials should have to answer to the public now. Is there a statute of limitations?
