Glad to hear you like our New Flyer buses! Our XE buses are really taking on the market and building more and more as the months continue. I work primarily on engineering of our electric buses which is a blast. I understand your lighting complaints, they are completely up to the customers expectations and needs. Keep up the good work on these videos!

Needs more views. My Canadian transit agency just posted an RFP for 600 electric buses for 2025-2026 in an economy where both manufacturers NFI/Nova are backlogged 6000 buses. Something needs to be done.

Charlotte CATS still has 13 GILLIG Phantoms from ‘03. They retired 47 of them last month. I legit shed tears when I seen the website auctioning them off. But, we still have 13 left. All of them, including the ones that were recently retired run smooth af. It feels like you’re legit riding on air, or a cloud.

We had the Orion five series buses here in Pittsburgh from the early 90s until the early 2000s and the kneelers on those sounded exactly like a garbage truck backing up

Translink here in Vancouver bc in Canada had the same recall on the 2018 nova LFS HEV, the 2018 nova LFS suburban and the 2019 nova LFSe Trimet was not the only one on the west

I got hired as a bus driver when I was 21 years old. We had Gillig Phantoms only in our fleet. Had a blast driving them but opted for a career change after a year and a half.

I'm Canadian and have never had a chance to ride a Gillig, though their styling looks the most boarding (your electric BRT styled ones look like toasters!). Both New Flyer (Manitoba) and Nova Bus (Quebec) are Canadian companies, and so basically make up every bus every Canadian transit agency uses. I quite like the NovaBus hybrids (40ft version, haven't been on hybrid artics) as they seem smoother and nicer than the clean diesel ones. New Flyer XDE40s are great too, the hybrid electric new flyers are so quiet they almost seem electric.

Living in Cleveland Ohio, we've had nova buses, nabi first models (2100s- 2400s) nabi second models (2600s-2800s) new flyer D60LFRS, New flyer 3200s, then around 2015 GCRTA was introduced to gilligs 3300s to 3490s, not sure what the engine models were, but another set of gilligs were introduced 3500s, then more sets of gilligs from 3600s to 4100s.

Sun Tran in Tucson operates Gillig busses. They just picked up 20 CNG busses in November 2023 (3600) so this year will be getting some electric busses. We have five electric Gillig busses in service 4012-4017 (2022) They still have that new bus smell. I would like to see them try out the New Flyer. Excelsior class busses. Great video.

As someone who drives these buses everyday. And i have driven everything from the 2500s to the 4500s. I will say that there are Pros and Cons with the gilligs. The 3900,4000,4200s are the worst to drive in my opinion they have harder suspension vs the 3700 and below gilligs. The doors are also electronic instead of air and they take forever to close. In my opinion the Newflyers were the best (from a operators standpoint)

I know not a damm thing about the new Novabuses, but Charlotte CATS had 114 1998-2000 Novas, and I loved them very much.

Can you please do Gillig low floor aka gillig advantage vs Gillig BRT

My favorite bus type that I'v ever ridden: probably the 2200's, or so. Those 90's confetti seats were--well--nostalgic, to say the least. (It's a shame they're long gone.) My least favorite? Probably the 4000's, or so. IDK, there's just something about them that makes them not nearly as satisfying to ride as almost any other series for me.

I have never been on a Gillig bus, but I've seen many, many videos of them. I've rode New Flyer low-floors, low-floor redesigned (LFR) and the Xcelsiors. The low-floors (LF) are the best quality. The LFR's are the best looking in my opinion, and the Xcelsiors are the quietest. LF's are the smoothest. As far as Novas, I've rode 2nd gen, 3rd gen, and 4th gen Novas. 2nd gens are the best in my opinion. 3rd gens are the worst in my opinion, as they rattle the most. I haven't rode any Gilligs as I mentioned, but the Gillig's look weird. They look like a mix of an old New Flyer low-floor and a Novabus. One bus you should try to check out is the Vicinity.

That's because there are no Gillig buses in Canada.

You probably never heard of NovaBus before because they are more common in Canada especially Quebec.
@chrissymessytransit Жыл бұрын
Hi there, NovaBus is a more East Coast US/Canada bus Company... You will very most likely not be getting more Novas as they are closing the US plant up in Plattsburgh, NY.

well nova is pulling out from the american bus market in 2025. So it'll be New Flyer, Gillig and Eldorado. Don't know where Proterra stands with thier current problems
