Scenes like this one make Fringe one of my favorite shows ever. So many people knock the final season but considering the fact that it nearly got cancelled, they had a limited amount of time and number of episodes to create it with a smaller budget than all the other seasons. They did an amazing job driving it with emotion.

Devynn Hageman same goes for me about season 4. My favorite is season 3, then season 5. I like the earlier episodes in 4 but is the grand scheme, it's lacking.

+Nick DiBartolomeo Season 3 was my favorite as well! The conflict between universes was incredibly compelling. But I didn't care much for season 4, introducing an entirely new timeline after Peter vanished in the machine sort of destroyed the stakes in my mind. Especially after showing that most of the events that had happened up to that point didn't matter (such as alternate Broyles being alive again and Henry not existing). I know it made sense after erasing Peter from the timeline, but it really lowered the stakes in my mind. I have my own version of how I wanted season 4 to go down. I would've preferred something different than Peter being erased to be the explanation of him vanishing, and the rest of the characters trying to find out where Peter went as the main plot-line. Maybe a cross-investigation between the two universes to show how Peter's sacrifice had united the universes. Maybe it turns out that the Observers interfered and kidnapped Peter due to his tampering with the timeline by using the machine. And when Peter finally turns up again towards the end of the season, it's with a warning about the Observers coming to invade, setting up the upcoming storyline in season 5.

+Devynn Hageman I agree completely. alot of plot points became convoluted after Peter returned and it does make a substantial plot hole as to how the machine came into existence, unless the machine itself was from a different timeline, before being sent back by Peter and Walter in final episode in season 3 but then how do they start it without peter existing? it is a bit of a mess. every now and then, I have to watch several key scenes from the episode in season 3 called "marionette." Anna Torv's acting in that episode is superb and there are 3 scenes that still can bring a tear to my eye.

It's interesting how in the first couple seasons, it was set up to make us think that she was the enemy (antagonist) for the whole show. God, I love her character and this scene made me sad.

yeah, they did a really, really great job with that, I think one of the things about Fringe that makes it so, so good, and so beloved by its fans is the success the writers and producers had with the development of the characters, there is not a single series regular who you can say has not been evolved meticulously, it is superb work. Nina´s character is fab, the way they made you unsure of her loyalties until really the middle of season 3 was brilliant though I guess havin Blair Browne as your raw material is a significant aide. In my humble opinion Fringe is the best Sci Fi show that has ever been on television I´m not sure there is another that can even come close in terms of intelligence of plot, acting and production quality.... In a world where some escapism is needed drastically by a lot of us, Fringe does the job... Is there any other TV series that defines the term ´Science Fiction´ quite so literally and quite so brilliantly! What a show !

Well technically before the new timeline (season 1-3), she had been a tricky and sneaky character, although not necessarily evil. Until the new timeline when she became Olivia and Rachel’s godmother, did we finally see a trully good Nina Sharp

This is great, because the child gave her back the memories from the prime timeline. This is both timelines Ninas combined, which allows her to care enough for the group yet shoot such a venomous pre-death monologue at Windmark. Teared up here though. First time you really feel Fringe closing.

Noooooooo Tarija, just wait a year or two before watching again from the start (have you given it a second viewing) when you watch it for the second or third time around the brilliance of this magnificent TV series is presented is glorious radiant technicolor, not at all spoiled by the fact that you know what is gonna happen, it works out to actually be the opposite, you don´t need to twist your brain around by trying to figure out the characters motivations and allegiances and can instead focus on all the cool and quirky bits and pieces that you missed the first time :) it is so so rare to find a tv show that has a proper beginning middle and end, the plot line of Fringe was obviously clear in the mind of the writers from the beginning I think the 5 seasons were perfectly paced and meticulously executed though while I do not see any way to improve or add anything to the basic story I suppose they could make some kind of offshoot that is centred on Fringe Division itself I would really like to see some more of ol´Broylsey and also Astrid´s personality and skillset would be a pleasure to explore of course there is then Anna Torv, who does not need a bit more Special Agent Olivia Dunham in their life ?

Out of every tv show I've watched in the last 58 of my 63 years this series is the only one I can remember that actually finished in its last episode. Such a rare gift. And the finale was so beautiful tying up all the strings of it's story and and leaving the major characters in the best life. What would a reboot do that wasn't already done ?

@@mnomadvfx yes, the Observers doesn't have emotion but since they were human's descendents and went back in time cause them to interact with human are what make them to start developing their own emotions. Even Michael is good example that Observers can develop emotions

well it's kinda hard when there's the threat of being cancelled at the end of every season. I'm sure they would love to have the time to answer every single question and develop all their characters, but that's not up to them. The head people of Fox decided to cancel them and only give them 13 eps for the last season...at least be thankful that the main characters are being given a chance to have some closure to their stories.

That's not a reason, I mean they have only been faced with cancellation for half of the series' running and while under the threat of cancellation they were wasting time on filler episodes. It's never hard to develop the supporting characters, it's just the Fringe writers never bothered. They were getting there with the first half of season 3 while they had the split settings, but that's as close as they ever came.

You have to love how Fringe still fails to develop any of its supporting characters, Broyles... Nina... Astrid... Sam Weiss... William Bell... *sigh* it would have been nice if the first three seasons could have been resolved. I can't really be expected to be excited about the conclusion to a story that was only developed through a nonsensical plot twist in order to ignore three seasons of story they had no idea how to handle, or patch its many holes and still unexplained elements.

@@Damon242 because the issues were resolved and the only character who didn’t get developed was astrid. All the events in seasons 1-5 were hints of what happened in season 5. Walter came full circle the main character stories were the relationships between Walter, Peter and Olivia. There was no nonsensical plot twist either. If I can figure it all out than surely you can. Perhaps you should watch all 5 seasons again and maybe you’ll find what you missed.

And this all before getting into Observer-thwarting "runes" that were introduced and then swiftly abandoned; the writing simply got ridiculous 'If I can figure it all out than surely you can. Perhaps you should watch all 5 seasons again and maybe you’ll find what you missed' Logical fallacy aside, with the above list, perhaps you should rewatch all 5 seasons and take note; the narrative of season 1 to 3 was abandoned after the season 4 reset which then continued with settings, stories and characters relevant only to season 4 and 5.
