I love how Jess is so nervous and awkward in this scene. He's usually so cocky and stuff, but this shows the more sensitive side of him. You can tell he loved Rory so much , more than Dean and Logan ever did. Also, Dean and Logan broke up with Rory, but Jess... he's the one who wanted to stay with her. I was so mad when they broke up, they really are the PERFECT couple and even though sometimes it doesn't seem like it, Jess is such a sweet guy.

*Rory and Jess were meant to be - it's a fact* Dean was a decent first boyfriend. He was like a home for Rory - he made her feel comfortable. But he got too clingy and was never satisfied with anything Rory did in the end. He was notorious for calling Rory out in front of crowds of people, which is flat out unnecessary. Logan was okay overall. He brought out the adventurous side of Rory and she made him wanna settle down. But he was selfish. From the beginning of their relationship, he said he wasn't looking for anything serious. He eventually 'committed', even though I think his definition of the word is misconstrued seeing as he didn't mind sleeping with 3+ women right after their break(up). Even in the end, he gave Rory an ultimatum for her to either marry him or be dropped right then and there, which she was. It was all about him, even if he did really love her. Jess was perfectly imperfect. People argue that it's just the "hot bad boy who reads" vibe but it's so much more than that. #1 They balanced each other. They always kept each other focused on their goals, and they weren't afraid to call each other out on bull. Jess softened and matured while Rory became immature (I think due to daddy issues, boy troubles follow her wherever). #2 They were in sync. From the first moment they met, there was a vibe. And to each other's surprise, they were so similar, despite being so different. And they actually could say they were in love at the same time, rather than a temporary unrequited infatuation.(i.e. Dean saying he loved Rory first with no immediate response from Rory and Rory saying she loved Logan when he didn't feel the same until later) #3 They made sense. All things considered, out of all Rory's relationships, they made the most sense. Jess offered a personality companionship, a sense of adventure, and a sense of home to Rory. He was everything and more that the others weren't. They kept each other grounded. There was true love that didn't need a physical connection to survive (unlike Dean and Logan). There was warmth. They were perfect.

I love how Luke is such a father figure to Rory and cares so much about what happens to her and about the guys she dates he was so protective when she and Dean broke up and trying to keep him away until they got back together and I'm glad they broke BTW I never liked dean Now he was always so caring when she was dating Jess he made sure she was safe with him and stuff and Logan when he found them at Rory's grandparents second wedding he was so protective I have always loved Luke he was there for Lorelei and Rory Chris wasn't there so I'm so glad Luke and Lorelai met ❤❤❤

I love how they are able to be completely themselves around each other. Around everyone else Jess puts up walls and uses smart mouth remarks and endless sarcasm, but when he's with Rory he's not afraid to be nervous or awkward or open about how he's feeling. He's able to just be him. The amount of trust they have in each other and the way it comes so easily is just so beautiful and adorable.

Love how Luke was all for Rory and Jess when he first finds out, then the minute he sees them sneak upstairs/almost kiss, the paternal instincts for Rory kicked in. Lol Even though Jess was his nephew, he still got overprotective. He obviously cared about Jess too, but it was clear that he was referring to her protection. 😄❤ And when they both say "hi" before they lean in for the kiss is literally the cutest. They were just nervous because it was important to them, and they had strong feelings for each other, they had butterflies, and nerves it's so very realistic! He met his weakness, and she made him nervous he didn't want to mess things up with her, it was different with her for him, and for her as well! 💕

This scene fucking hit me, dude. I remember that awkwardness and giddiness with my first “guy I was seeing seriously”. It was super weird to finally be *able* to get physically close but it was nerve wracking but also exciting and scary. We were similar to this too. I was nervous and had no idea what I was doing but somehow also wanted to do it, and he was awkward but gently forward and kind of lead the way even though it was literally just small kisses and hand holding.
