The ending of the revival made sense to me and was not as shocking or controversial as some claim, I think. Through Rory's unplanned pregnancy it's implied that after all the bumps on the road, she goes on to write the Gilmore Girls script while raising her child. It's a nice intertextual touch, and actually a different but a more meaningful triumph for the character than a straightforward media career. The fact that she doesn't immediately become a successful journalist is part of the story's charm. Neither is it surprising that Rory is faced with yet another challenge that she needs to overcome; the whole show is filled with the contradictions of "the good girl" ending up in various predicaments and wouldn't it be boring otherwise? Gilmore Girls yet again reminded us that with a little help from her friends, powerhouse mum, coffee (and rich grandparent/s) Rory will get through the tough times and her life will be more meaningful for it.

It was fine if it was the seventh season. To force it to be a decade later made all the characters pathetic and ensures there won't be a second sequel. It was Amy's ego trip.
@wandertree3 жыл бұрын
I love your perspective!! I also love the "real" feel of the show where lives don't turn out as expected and life surprises with many twists and turns. And sometimes the promise and bloom of youth wear off to reveal that we're all really just ordinary folks - special and valuable, but ordinary. I LOVE the idea that Rory is the writer behind "Gilmore Girls" - the book turned tv show. Awesome thought. :)

I love GG so much. Sounds dumb, maybe, but watching it feels like going home. Might be because I've watched the series an obscene amount of times, lol. While I would have loved for them to have kept the show going on and on and on, I wouldn't want anything beyond the follow-up four episodes they did. I was so excited to watch those episodes and am grateful for them, and I think I'm glad they did them. But the series, as they left it, was perfection and probably should've been left alone. I wouldn't want to see them try to have another go at the series because it just wouldn't be the same. I was surprised by how emotional I was watching it - and not just happy. Anyway, my two cents.

It was such a brilliant ending imo, that showed that like with Emily and Richard, you can hope for so much for the daughter you've raised (or grew up alongside for the audience), but life is chaotic and often doesn't go how we like, but a lot of life and joy can come from that unpredictability. The character development was lacking in this. They should have cut out the musical part. Maybe kept it only in the summer. Not multiple seasons. Sutton did amazing but it seemed like filler and there was plenty of material to explore... Logan's wedding... Jess's never ending flame. More with Chris. Rory's pregnancy. Luke and her as whole that we didn't get in season 7. A lot! I get the weren't there for season 7 but they should've build off some of it. More of it. If Amy never did bunheads I don't think there would have that much emphasis on it. It didn't fit in my opinion. I hope we get more. I've heard rumors.
