I feel like having lorelai move in to kiss him after he kisses her is so important because everything he’s said up til that point has been from a place of insecurity. He feels like he took his shot and it wasn’t going to amount to anything, even when he kisses her. And then for her to actively initiate a kiss is such a clear indication that she’s there and she’s in it and it’s not just him

When he says he let his actions speak he’s telling her how he communicates. He may not always say I love you but he goes above and beyond when helping her out. For her birthday he doesn’t get her a present because he hates having to get gifts for people so instead he offers her 5 hours of his free services. He may not be very good at using his words but he shows how he feels through his actions and if Lorelei would have realized that I think their relationship might have went better starting out.

I love this moment, when he’s ranting about how he’d done everything right and thought they were on the same page. It really pays off that moment of clarity he had previously where he imagined who he wanted to be with and realized it was Lorelei. So, more than all the “moments” or flirtation, or looks in the past he really decided to put himself out there and be more straightforward with his actions.

I don't think a TV couple first kiss will ever top this. It's so perfect. So in character, it's funny, and romantic and perfectly lead up to. Matched the tone and style of the show totally. We may not be satisfied with the progression of the relationship, but they totally nailed the lead up and execution of this part. I actually season 5 a lot, but season 6 they really started clowning up the place with some of the writing. The season 5 L/L breakup was just so beautifully done, and LG just sold the shit out of how broken hearted she was. The dream sequence was a wonderful piece of TV. Sherman-Palladino and I have some beef(well one sided on my part lol) with some of her choices, but she really could produce wonderful TV when she had a mind to. I love this episode so much.

The only thing he did wrong is drop "the inn that I invested in" line. I get that he was lashing out but that line clearly communicates 1) I only invested because I love you 2) you owe me for that and 3) if this thing between us doesn't work out (and if I were a much worse guy than we all know that Luke is) I could just withdraw my investment. Which is sooo not an okay thing to imply while you're trying to start a relationship with someone. Not trying to rain on the parade.
