@SDesWriter13 күн бұрын
Getting paid millions of dollars motivates you to go enjoy life. Money doesn't make you want to work hard unless you're trying to obtain it. You have to find out if he has a desire to win, and if so, you have to find a way to tap into that motivation. But throwing money at someone doesn't do anything to make them care about their sport or how hard they need to work.
@TheOgBrodie13 күн бұрын
@ I hear you but Zion’s case is a bit different. He has a weight clause in his contract. Even if he doesn’t care about winning, I assume he cares about his money and if he doesn’t stay in shape he losing millions.
@SDesWriter13 күн бұрын
@@TheOgBrodie You have to separate how he was vs how he is, and the injuries he got through not doing enough to be in the best physical condition vs things that happened because he's a 280lb freak of nature that can literally touch the top of the backboard (so injuries are going to happen naturally). He's in shape now. He lost major weight over the summer and came to camp at 270lbs-280lbs. Then he gets injured and people just assume it's more of what has been happening his whole career, except this time he did everything right and STILL got hurt. Sometimes it's just bad luck or someone who has issues physically that will always lead to unfortunate injuries. Steph was literally hurt his entire first few seasons and GS was actively considering getting rid of him. He did find a way to fix the problem through working out and stretching (maybe other things), but sometimes you can only do so much to stay healthy.
@TheOgBrodie13 күн бұрын
I don’t blame him for being injury prone and I also understand he’s looking different from before but I believe it shouldn’t have even gotten to this point. He signed his extension in 2022, effective in 2023. He sat out most of the past 2 seasons due to injury and got fat during that time period. 20% of his contract is based on maintaining a certain weight and body fat. That’s about $40 million. $40 mil can’t motivate you to stay under 290 lbs? Even if he’s injured it doesn’t mean he has to let himself go. What happens if he gets (most likely) injured again, will he balloon up again?

@mynoseisdirty1250 ... there's truth to what you're saying, for sure. But at the same time, how can you (Pelicans) hold someone (Zion) accountable in a relationship they never wanted in the 1st place? I mean, contractually, they can hold him accountable via fines. But simply saying: you can't give someone the desire to make something work - if they themselves don't want to make it work. A part of me wonders, "If zion was on ANY OTHER team... would he still have these same problems" (injuries aside)*
@SDesWriter13 күн бұрын
They should trade him. Even if he gets (and stays) healthy, he never has developed post moves (or an outside shot) like other great players. Perhaps it can also work for Zion. He's never had a boss like Riles and mentors like Zo and UD. Maybe those are the people who Zion needs in his life to revive his dying career (he's still so young) and to maximize his potential. For the Heat, a young core of Bam plus Herro plus a motivated, healthy & in-shape Zion has serious potential.

Here's a crazy idea. Ask a professional to show up to work on time. Nobody else in corporate America has to do that. Only NBA players are subjected to that. Smh

1:45 It’s not even penalizing Zion either. It’s penalizing the fans! you suspend him and there’s people who bought tickets to see just Zion. You’re losing fans, your developing people who hate the man now it’s bad business.

😂 The fans been penalized, think about how many games he already missed.

Nobody expects "high quality " from Zion. We expect a large appetite and laziness.

I'm tired of Zion and I'm Georgia. I couldn't imagine dealing with him in the organization, they should've traded him last year. Trade him 4 Brad Beale

The Pelicans are stupid for giving a Max contract that only should be I the table fire players with that resume! Dude hasn’t even played a season in the a league? And he still gets paid more than most players besides Superstars before him

No superstar has made it through a stint in New Orleans without being labeled injury prone...Jamal Mashburn, Baron Davis, Chris Paul, Anthony Davis, and now Zion. Everyone knows Zion should monitor his weight better, but not going to let the track record of training staff off the hook. I'm sure everyone on staff knows what they're doing, and it's highly likely they're not given the resources needed to keep NBA players on the court...but just shining a light on that aspect.

Talking about Zion, LaMelo Ball played in 209 of 364 games. Lonzo Ball has played in 272 of 613 games. Zion, 192 of 368 games. That's absurd that dudes get paid like that to show up to some games lol

People in the comments talking about Zion weight, but nobody actually knows how much he weighs. So how yall keep saying he's overweight. And Charles Barkley has never been ripped like Zion. You guys just repeat media narratives. And how is his injury due to being overweight. If thats the case, then Kawahi, Embid, Paul George, Brandon Ingram, Kyrie, Porzingis must all be overweight. People make fun of Zion for clicks and Views. Gil's arena are former basketball players unlike Shannon Sharpe. These guys are not trying to clout chase or bully Zion!
@1takefades13 күн бұрын
McCants is the first to argue that longevity doesn’t matter when it comes to bron. But shakes his head and disagrees when they say Zion is still a star with value even if he’s injured most of the time

Teams are trying to recoup their money. Players don't want to hold accountable when teams invest hundreds of million on them. I'm usually leaning pro player, but this is crazy.

That average person that watched the NBA just 5 seasons ago, doesn't anymore. Bringing back the inside-out game instead of shooting 3's will bring viewership back to the NBA.
