Gil reads the comments, and clearly understands talent. Say whatcha want Norris Cole, Rashad and Gil is the most entertaining. Hate from Rashad, stat man Gil & Norris just being objective is a great show.
@danomaly8943

Where is Cole being objective? He keeps pumping Bam because of the Miami Heat connection and he clearly just says whatever like Giannis is shooting better from 3 when that’s a lie. I think you guys want athletes that have the same opinion as you guys because it validates you (or so you’d like to think) but it’s trash. Gil isn’t always right but mfs have to prove him wrong and not make up bs because it sounds good

The dunk contest MADE Vince a superstar. He was already a known commodity coming out of North Carolina, but that dunk contest catapulted him to another stratosphere, than he followed that up with "The Dunk" over Weis in the Olympics the same year. Having big names would be great, but it's more important that you have great dunking. Mediocre dunks by a "big name" all-star like Jaylen Brown can't compare to Great Dunks by an average player like Aaron Gordon or Gerald Green.

I have to agree with Gil's take on that one. If I'm Trae and I have a say, I'm definitely going to the Spurs. Victor & Lebron are both unique, generational type of players. But one is likely only going to get better with time, whereas the other is nearing the end of his career. The Spurs are like a blank page, with the opportunity for Trae to become a cornerstone of the franchise. With his own legend to be made. With the current Lakers as it stands, Lebron and AD have already written most of the story and are the main characters. Trae would only feel like a means to an end, a complementary piece. In the best case scenario, it'll only be a championship, which isn't at all guaranteed. And then what, once Lebron retires? If this doesn't work out. Return to the Atlanta situation? Hoping for a good team to build around Trae. Isn't it short-sightedness? Sure, contending with the Spurs might take a few years, like it did with OKC. But the reward could be far greater. Also, on a sidenote, Pop signed a contract extension so he's set to be with the franchise for at least 4 or 5 more years.

The thing that Gilbert also mention is superstars in an all-star weekend compete according to their skillset. Bird, Kerr, Miller, Del Ellis, Dirk, Nash, Ray Allen, Steph & Del Curry, Klay, Dame, Trey all were in three-point contests. all of the great shooters basically in NBA history have participated. Because it had been set if you’re a great shooter you participate in the three-point contest. LeBron set another precedent if you’re known for dunking and scared to complete then don’t. It has nothing to do with being the face of the league it’s the highest best players doing with their known for what fans want to see it’s just that simple.

Mann I met Gil through a friend and dude way more intelligent then people try to make him out to be. He first said Darvin Ham needs to play the 5 best players on the team and shouldn’t of bench Reeves or Dlo nor Rui. The Lakers took off once they started them because like Gil said the opposing team can’t hide their best player on the Lakers best 5 players. He just slaughtered Stephen A Smith argument that it’s Lebron fault the Dunk contest is what it is by stating facts about Kobe & Vince not defending their title so Lebron didn’t want to compete against anyone that wasn’t on his level

McCann is getting better but bro, how can you say nobody was entertained by Steph and Klay shooting 3s when they’ve been the most watched and followed team since their first ring

With that Giannis discussion, you can tell McCants and Cole has a role player mentality vs. Gil’s star mentality. Why wouldn’t Giannis want to be better. Yeah he’s unstoppable in a lot of ways but we see what happens when teams learn how to build that wall against him.

The thing is dunking was coolest thing back in the day, now cats care about crossovers and 3's. Not many dunkers coming into the league
