Of Course I was kidding - Gilson is one of my very favourite drummers. If he was American or if he'd been around in the 50's and 60's I think his influence on today's players would be huge. He's got, groove, power, flair and style and he just seems to get stronger and cooler with age. This is how a drum solo should be performed. 10/10

I saw him with Squeeze a few times, one time really sticks out in my mind on July 4 1981 in a little club in San Francisco, Gilson was pounding the drums so hard and screaming after each song, he was out of his mind...which was a great thing in a little sweaty rock club

The way he switches his grip in the middle of the solo...how he does a crossover hit on his toms, and that *thump* he gets! Wow!

I of the best drummers to come out of the UK IMHO... I just love his playing - and his stuff with Squeeze was legendary as well - just listen to tracks like "Footprints", or "Rose I Said", or "Hourglass"! Brilliant drumming on those! :)

Have just seen him as part of the R&B Orchestra tonight - the whole show was brilliant, but the drum solo was a definite highlight,

I think it's around the 1:49 mark where he clearly slows down space and time for himself and is able to do so many actions. The rest of us don't notice because we're just mere mortals.

it's kinda different seeing an old timer play in the style of Louie Bellson w/ the crazy rock n roll stage lights. Props...you don't look a day older than 70. But play better than most chaps my age.

DW need to make heavier duty stands those 9000's nearest the camera was rocking all over the place!!
I am hearing so much gene Krupa in his drumming there is no doubt in my mind that this man had gene Krupa for his motivator only part of his drumming I did not like was his smashing of his cymbals

This man has never played a GRACE note that isn't tasteful.
