I lived in London all my life and moved here 6 years ago and I don't know why all the negative comments about it not being a nice area. I love it compared to London and now being here for 6 years I would never go back. It's so peaceful, the first thing I noticed were how clean the streets are, no litter anywhere! The next thing was how friendly the people are, everyone talks to you not like down South! I have lovely views where I live and only five minutes from Town Center, the night life here was excellent before the Covid restrictions. I love the slower pace of life and tranquillity this place brings and five minutes in the car and your in the Pennines! Great Place thank you for posting!

@Ellis The DJ Smashed bus stops, litter on nearly every street, drug addicts roaming town falling over, stabbings and violent crime, insurance prices higher which is indicative of car related crime, I’ve had my car broken into 3 times since living here, dogs being stolen constantly.. do I need to go on and on? There is nice places around but for the whole it’s on the rough side, not as bad as Rotherham or Luton but that’s no achievement

Lived in Barnsley all my life, the best thing about it is you can drive for 10 minutes in any given direction an be surrounded by gorgeous countryside. Locals are very genuine and straight talking, may seem slightly standoffish to those unfamiliar. The town has suffered from lots of urban blight in the last 25 years. Lots of historical places to visit in the surrounding area.

I moved from Huddersfield to Barnsley five years ago and think it is a nice, friendly town. The town centre is compact and not so spread out as Huddersfield. There have been big improvements since this video was uploaded. The only downside I can think of is Barnsley has a litter problem but then again I think that is a South Yorkshire problem in general.
