GIMP 2.10 - BIMP Plugin Install Tutorial - Batch Image Processing

In this video tutorial I will show you how install BIMP Plugin for GIMP 2.10. The BIMP Plugin allows you to batch process multiple images using a few simple mouse clicks. In this video we will batch process images to reduce resolution and file size.

@@emanandchill I've just installed GIMP 2.10.14 on a Win 7 pro PC and then I installed the BIMP 2.0 plug-in without issue. Perhaps you should check where your plug-ins are meant to be installed by opening GIMP > click Edit > click Preferences > expand the folders item in the left-hand pane and click on Plug-ins to find out where your GIMP plugins should be installed.

I was looking for a batch processing plug-in for GIMP just last week. My specific need isn't one of BIMPs features (yet) but what you've coded for the community looks useful & you should prepare for a flood of requests like the one in the (predictable) next sentence. I'm currently using Picosmos to batch convert animated webp files to animated GIFs & the failure rate is about 30% when using this Freebee multi-featured Graphic toolkit. Depending on the length of my procrastination dream-state, that often means my next task is manually feeding 40 or more WEBP files into GIMP which does a flawless job of producing an absolute visual duplicate but in a GIF container using Export As. Can you just imagine how over-the-top thrilled I'd be if this functionality appeared in a future version of your plug-in? Well, I would be.

Many thanks for the wonderful tutorial (and all the others!). When I use Manipulation Set > Add > Other Gimp Procedures > gimp-color-balance > TRANSFER MIDTONES and set it to a value it seems that TRANSFER SHADOWS and TRANSFER HIGHLIGHTS all change to the same amount (which I don't want. Any way around that? Cheers JerryG

Question 1: The file exe you shared does not work automatically and you run it automatically after you get a black screen. ???? Question 2: my Gimp ver.2.99 ok, I understand, it runs the lower version, which is the advanced version, logically. it doesn't work even though we manually put these files in their own folder. Is there an explanation for this?

It doesn't matter where you download/move the 'gimp-plugin-bimp_win32.exe' file because, the plug-in developers have configured it to install the plug-in files to C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\bimp-locale (or similar). Check where your plugins get installed by: opening GIMP > click Edit > click Preferences > expand the folders item in the left-hand pane and click on Plug-ins to find out where your GIMP plugins should be installed. I'm running GIMP 2.10.14 on Win 7 Pro PC btw.

BIMP doesn't compile on Ubuntu 18.04 no matter what you try ... The make file has the wrong directory paths. There are also errors when running make. It would be really great if this could be fixed...

hi, Your video is quite detailed, however I am facing one issue - i downloaded the BIMP .exe file on desktop, when I click on this file it gives me error - The installer cant find the GMIP by itself, manually locate the file.. I tried to manually do it but its not working :( can you please help?

Actually I found a very simple and powerful workaround using Imagemagick's Convert tool: for f in ./*.JPG ; do convert "$f" -resize 1200x1200 "./small/${f%.JPG}s.jpg" ; done (the f is a place holder - the output will be put into the subdirectory small, which needs to be created beforehand of course -- 1200 pixels is the maximum no of pixels in width/hight, which is quite practical, because this avoids percentages, which can be a nuisance if you have a jumble of large and small jpgs -- also this works extremely fast)
