I wanted to use a black and white image to subtract for a 3d print but the base image was so small and low res it looked horrible. This helped me make it look WAY better and easier to work with. Thank you so much for this fast, easy to follow video!

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this video. Such a simple yet powerful technique! You explained it clearly and concisely, too. I've already used it, and I'm sure I'll use it many more times. I appreciate your sharing it.

First try i didn't have so much luck at it, I will continue to play with the technique. I had better results turning the selection to path, then fine tuning that before filling.

Or you can use Inkscape's trace bitmap and convert it to vector and export the image as a png. Same outcome with two clicks and 10 seconds

You don't that's the downside of this technique, sharp edges and pointy edges get rounded out, clearest example of this are the whiskers on the bottom.

Is there any guideline on the factor of increasing the image size, with 300 ppi and 11.81 ppm you end up with a 3000 by 3000 pixel image, it needs to be this large or ? A well I am going to try out some factors, the thing is, I got this image of around 750 by 400 of only 400 Kb but when I resize it with the factor you use so that would be 13.3 then the memory section of Gimp starts complaining about the picture being 643 Mb sooooooo euh yeah........I already changed the settings so I am able to resize images so it stops complaining, Gimp told me just now that the memory size would be 6.43 Gigabytes euhhhh okeeeeeeee, hmz ok welllll hmz..... ok well we will see, I will keep your 13.3 image size increase factor or else scale it down but nice !!!!!! Those images are now soooo sharp and nice ! And I found that lion you are using, haha euhhh when I saved it after blowing it ip and blurring it and sharpening it again the size was even smaller then the original one, what a strange world hahaha nice tutorial I like it when yanks want to be Americans again ! They are rare these days ya know ! So thumbs up sir ! You can go with us to the next planet if we go 🤣🤣🤣you are VERY useful I am going to check out your other videos too ! I learn so much faster with your videos ! Saves me tons of time but please...... can you jump to our side so we can all use metric ? I am now working in inches because I am sooooooo not into converting, and that is fine we Dutch are VERY versatile but please sir, trust me you really do not want to use imperial we Europeans are using metric since the French came up with it 170 years ago and it saves you sooooo much time and no errors anymore, the imperial system is so amazingly flawed from within LET ALONE when we Europeans need to convert it to that insanely old and flawed imperial stuff ! So please sir do me a favor ! And one better : do yaself a favor and your brain : drop that inch and pound and gallon and what not ! Just do it ! 100 centimeters in a meter, 1000 millimeters in a meter 1 decameter is 10 centimeters wich is 100 millimeters, 1000 meters is one KILO.......meter and 10 football pitches in one kilometers, so guess I made my point right ? If I gave you one of my projects then you would be busy for another week while I am alraedy busy on project number three why ? IMPERIAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So please..... drop the imperial please it gives the world head aches and also planes come down due to this imperial stuff !!!! Yeah you fuel up a plane and what conversion you then use ? YESSSSS wich one ? EXACTLY so next time you fly then bare in mind you CAN be without fuel over the ocean and then you WILL come down ! Why ? Because the entire world uses METRIC !!!!!! And fuel needs to be converted into METRIC and NOTTTTTTTTTTT Imperial ! You do that then you need to do it right, you do it wrong like MANY times before then oops you end up with 50 percent of the fuel you need !!!! YEpppppppp those WONDERFUL pounds again huh !!!!!! Kilo's not pounds !!!! KILO's !!!!!! The entire science community REFUSES to use imperial and OF COURSE !!!!!!! The science language is METRIC and NOT IMPERIAL !!!!! Sighhhhhhhhhhh what to with America..... well at least you are a smart guy so you can stay you earned your place but the rest ? ? ? So be aware, you got ONE single fuel guy having a bad day and you will NOT make your destiny and your plane WILL come down and all three of the tanks WILL be empty and dry !!!! And then yepppp you only WISH Sully is flying your plane Or of course Dirk de Jager the Dutch co-pilot together with that French Captain who glided a plane with 300 people in it for more then 100 KILOMETERS !!!! Yeppp that iis what you can do when you USE METRIC ! If they used imperial the moment they found out their tanks were dry due to a fuel leak they already would be DEAD !!!!!! hahahahahaha ! At least I warned you at least I did my job !
