Here Mme Bachauer gives one of her most breathtaking recorded concerts. Her performances are full of tension and electricity. It is also playing with style and personality. One only waits to hear her usual encores: Intermezzi with deep, singing Brahmsian lyricism. Thank you for this treasure!

Magnificent performance. I heard her play countless times in NYC. She always gave mammoth programs and is undoubtedly one if the legendary pianists. She evidently toiled 10-12 hours daily perfecting her Greatness.

Great recording. The really funny thing is that she's playing on the same piano as mine..! A wonderful Bechstein E that still sounds like it does here.. To express it mildly I am without speech..! This is the first time I hear an old recording of it! And what a beautiful one! Thank you ever so much! :)) Greetings from Klaus, Bergen. Norway.

I think the Bach-Busoni and Brahms are fabulous, the Chopin and Stravinsky a bit less securely played. A tremendous pianist. and a treasure to have this live recital in her prime. Thanks for the upload.

I had the privilege of seeing her live in high school playing the Brahms second about a year after this recital. .

I had piano lessons in Leeds with Mavis Nichols, who was a great friend of Gina Bachauer. Her style of piano playing, little paddle, very strong in her fingers and absolute control, very musical and emotionally engaging. Exactly the way Mavis tried to teach me. Great resemblance to Tatiana Nicholajeva, who all knew each other through the Leeds Piano Competition. Mavis did not like Alfred Brendel, 'his stupid mouth movements', I guess she was wrong there. Not with Gina Bachauer, a very underrated pianist, make Horovitz shrivle and was it soo striking, like Tatiana, so incredibly humble and matter of fact, which it really, really is not in actual fact. Great sonority of toucher as well. Loved this clip!

Wow! Always happy to hear her. Live recordings are a special treat. The personality was electric .She came to Florida I remember as a child meeting a student who thrilled to talk about how she took huge chords and tenths in Mussorgsky ! I never met or heard her . The Bach-Busoni is really something especially the Adagio. Good to hear her in Stravinsky .
