My step dad literally built a tank like this for fun in the 90's, but out of welded metal, and the gun was a 4 ft long, 2" potato cannon. We had so much fun with it, but he ended up selling it to somebody for a dune buggy that he turned into a mad max style war buggy. He was always making crazy things.

I had a friend years ago who's dad was obsessed with paintball and he had a lot of land. So, he made a huge paintball course. He also made an APC. It had a gun on top that could load like 100 paintballs and shoot them out shotgun style. It also carried four people in the back with a drop down ramp. We'd be hunkered down and it would just roll up.
