Still wrong to accuse someone for cheating if you just have no real evidence. Moving slow and making bad moves are ridicilous arguments to accuse your opponent. It´s quite annoying. But you are a good chess player :) Maybe try to do some more calculatings with these longer games.

What about Knight h3? Instead of knight f3? Aljechin used this solution as white in the French defence where he sacrificed the h- pawn?In this way you prevent incomings on the g4 square.

@josketobben7 жыл бұрын
You almost did it right. In short notation you drop any redundant coordinates. So R1d6 it is. Rd1-d6 is fine too, but it's long notation.

At around 35 minutes, black makes what Simon calls "a blunder". What black should have done was move the rook to c7 and attack the queen. Then, white checks the king with the queen and the knight blocks.

I used to think GMs had a magical way of analyzing the board and coming up with outlandish moves where the benefit of which can only be noticed 15 moves down any variation. Now I just see that they just calculate. Kind of like how I do, but much better and more accurately. I can calculate 4 or 5 moves in a few different variations, but the variations I calculate are useless and nonsensical lol.
@-_Nuke_-6 жыл бұрын
They also look far into a potential end game or know very well which squares their pieces are great and how to get them there, there are too much involved than just raw calculations.
@georgemissailidis75817 жыл бұрын
35:26 white should have moved the rook down to c7 attacking the queen. Then queen moves up check and the knight blocks

Very strange that he was rated over 1900. Maybe that was some sort of a provisional rating (only having played a few games on the site)? As his moves certainly did not look anywhere near the strength of a 1900 player.
@-_Nuke_-6 жыл бұрын
Even 1900 players are being intimidated by GMs and probably not have experienced a dubious opening like sucing the h pawn..

I'm a chess noob, rated around 1300 in blitz on chess.com, I've got paired up with 1800+ player in tournament, somehow I won and only got 16 points, Simon beats a player rated lower than him and gets 22 points. wut. Can someone explain this to me?
@only1jones27 ай бұрын
It's the Glicko rating system... it uses another variable called "rating deviation" (RD) as a measure of how inaccurate your rating is likely to be. Your RD was low and +16 is the maximum you could get. I guess Simon hadn't played much on this account at this time, so his RD was huge. Over time, RD increases too. Look it up.

Honestly, I know you have bad experience, but next time try to refrain from commenting that your opponent might be cheating unless you are absolutely sure. Cheating accusations are serious nowadays and there was nothing about his play to indicate computer assistance. He was a lower rated player facing a GM, who plays a weird opening, of course he is going to take some time. And I checked, 8...0-0 wasn't even Stockfish's 3rd or 4th move.
@Gemwielders6 жыл бұрын
I think sometimes a move seems very obvious to a GM and isn't for less ecperienced players. This can skew the perception of what is a bizarre move.

12:58 Did you ever think it could be someone else playing on his account? Like a younger sibling? Or friend who's learning? Your constant bitching about cheating is bad sportsmanship. Unless you have proof, shut the fuck up already! You expect me to buy your DVD? Why? Does it teach me how to accuse everyone who beats me of cheating? Is that on the first DVD? By the end will I be able to accuse them of cheating by the first move just like the Ginger GM?

Lets the timer run out before resigning, typical chess.com toxicity. I know Simon is of the opinion its not their fault,but it actually is! I have stopped playing there because i had this done to me so many times, and no action has been ever taken on the 100s of players I've reported for this, whereas lichess allows you to claim a win if your opponent pulls such nonsense. Chess.com should really improve their site before asking for people's money!
