Next trip drive three miles east on County Road 340 and camp at Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park. It's a beautiful park with limited camping spaces. There are miles of hiking trails and one of the most beautiful spring basins and spring runs in north Florida. There's a reasonable park fee with a concession for renting kayaks and canoes. The boardwalk to the river was destroyed in a hurricane a few years back but they are going to replace it. It's a much nicer place for campers and families.

I know a lot of the people including myself (I am in my fifties now) like to go someplace where they have less rules and they can play their own music and they can stay up all night and nobody is going to give them a hard time so that's why people go to Ginnie Springs. We went yesterday for the day. We have 2 kids age 18 and 20 and we loved this place because our kids fit right in with the crowd. They were invited on the rope swing with a bunch of others their age. Everyone seemed to be chill and having a great time. Yes, there was music, but we didn't mind, it added to the party atmosphere. We tubed down river and swam in the springs (there are 7 of them, so if one is crowded, just head to the next) We found drivers to be respectful. You do have to walk on the dirt road to get around and everyone slowed down or pulled over to give us space. For out-of-staters looking for a unique experience, I'd say this was a hit. Otherwise, if your looking for a quiet peaceful night sleep, go elsewhere. This video was spot on about everything! BTW, this area is best for tubing or kayaking vs canoeing. The river is warmer than the springs. You can swim in both, take your pick.

Firs of all , thank you for your service! Wife and I just got back from Ginnie last night. 8 days, 7 sevens night, tues - tues. It was interesting to say the least. We've been going there for over 10 yrs, usually 1 or twice yearly. We have always loved it. The one thing you failed to mention is the number of springs that you can actually swim & play in. i believe there are 7 on the property and 2 across the river. most other parks only have one. The place has always been historically the local U'F party spot on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends (and fourth of July), but this summer is different. There's a festival concert crowd that has no festivals to go to, so they travel to different private campgrounds to party. Then there's the south Florida party crowd, ALL of south Florida is still shut down, so the latino rave community has also found this place on the weekends. It is now like Memorial and Labor day every weekend. Kinda sad, but hopefully things will chill out once things open back up. We actually are planning on going back next month, but are going to limit it to Mon - Fri. Thanks for the review. You weren't wrong. Hope you can go back again when its quieter and enjoy it more.

Went here over the weekend starting Thursday with my squad, we are all 27-30. We are from Georgia, hold each other accountable as friends, and this was our first time to Ginnie. Thursday night we settled down around 22:00 and tried to get some rest in the heat. Our teenage neighbors played drinking games and occasionally woke us up through 02:00 the next morning - nothing really terrible. Friday we had all manner of neighbors pitch up at their site. One of the groups nearby played barrio music very loudly for the next 48 hours, while another group ran a generator close to our campsite, far from theirs (nice). It rained Friday evening so alot of people turned in early and only played music til midnight. Saturday is when everyone and their grandma showed up. People showed up in such great numbers, I honestly couldn't believe it. The spring heads were totally overcrowded, but the river was a blast to float. We ran into countless people who all got along with us and celebrated our trip downstream. Saturday night was absolutely insane - maybe 5000 at the entire campgrounds and it showed. I only ever saw one group of kids totally smashed during our time there. Imo we got off the hook from bad neighbors/encounters and made a great time of it. Some campsites are more isolated than others, so families can theoretically set up and enjoy the place - the amount of alcohol and obscenities going around counteracts this though. Teens twerking on moving vehicles, tits out, children (yes) smoking weed and drinking. It's all kinds of fucked from an outside perspective. I can see why it gets a bad name honestly. The staff are friendly and helpful, but there is little to no enforcement of posted rules, especially after sunset. It can totally be an unsafe place. Please research this place before you go and be prepared for anything if you decide to take the plunge.

I have kids who would like to see it, but I can not bring them. All because people are inconsiderate to those around them. I could deal with the crowdedness, but not the drunks and loud music. How pathetic that you defend this.

This is where we pick up 98%of the trash from out of the river is from this park. They need to just take away open containers and add a 11pm quiet time....but they won't bevause they make too much money as you said

Avoid Silver Glen Springs as well. Gorgeous spring, lots of shade to keep you cool while you're out of the water. But, shamelessly LOUD. Had to let some guy borrow my phone for some f'ed up altercation that happened, so be warned: watch your kids around other people in this park.

I couldnt agree more, this place is one of the worst places we have ever been...and we have been to a lot of places. We went for the day thank goodness.....we wanted to kayak and hang out. This place is really expensive to get into for one day, but reviews said it was really pretty so we wanted to see it. As soon as we parked, we heard terrible music blasting throughout the park, hundreds of cigarette butts all over the place, smoking pot ( which is fine, but theres a time and a place ). As soon as we got to the water with our kayak, there were people wasted drunk, drinking in the springs, puking all over the place , there was dried puke all over the deck. Beer cans floating all in the water, bottles at the bottom....we have to literally go through puke to get to the river...we picked up the kayak and left. we went to the shop first to see if we could get our money back, the jerk at the office laughed in our face and said that the owner "doesnt care about our experience and wont give us a dime back".....and he was right. I cant believe this place makes it on any list......this place is for a special kind of group.....i wont get into that.......but anyone with any respect do yourself a favor and go a few miles down the road to gilchrist and get a much better experience for 1/4 of the price with no trash. Great review, more people need to know about this place and the state really should step in and take care of this precious water system.

You are about 45 minutes from Gainesville (UF) and Ginnie Springs is private, therefore there’s lots of drinking and partying. Go to a state park where drinking isn’t permitted. Sorry you had a crappy time.

@L2theWcarscoffeelife3 жыл бұрын
They sell the water to Nestle which owned Zephyrhills its not sold they go by 7 springs water they own the park not Nestle a big corporation wouldn't want to own that park with what happens there. They got approval.to pump close to 1 million gallons a day for bottled water. Anheiser Busch should buy it a.test showed the water is 10 percent alcohol because of so much being spilled and poured in it.

I'm sorry you didn't get the Pleistocene camping experience. Mammoths and early human ancestors came to this beautiful place we must protect. TBH I think you are in the wrong for censoring all the negativity / not spreading activism for cleaning the parks, because you can only kill those people with kindness, legally. I guess the FWC does not regulate this area because it's private property - so as reviewer states don't come here for luxury camping I like freediving so I go to these places when it is empty and no people come out. But it is nothing more than a 2020 experience to see kids and their loud 🍍

@@L2theWcarscoffeelife What I mean is, obviously you would do well leading the younger generation to clean that park. So I am justifying the dislikes. Doing the backbreaking labor yourself is something i try to do every time I visit... I appreciate your review. Also godspeed for your service for the military. I don't appreciate how the military destroyed so many poor kids backs in iraq. One of my best internet friends was disabled from iraq backpacking and had multiple spinal fusions, met him on Space Engineers and he was 35 wheelchair bound, with like 4th or 5th surgery.

YEP private owners is "make it or break it" mentality in america. The private prisons are corrupt, private state parks are corrupt, but hey in good ol america we have private companies like spacex who can thrive!

Oh THANK YOU for this review video. We’ve always wanted to go to Ginnie Springs and just got our new RV and we were seriously thinking about heading up there for a weekend soon. But not now. You saved us. That’s NOT what we want out of a camping experience either. We’ve dealt with people in past camping trips that wanted to blare loud music waaaay past quiet hours. It was horrible and was only one group near us. I can’t imagine a whole f’ing campground full of it. I was young once and loved to party with friends (Navy vet here) but I was always considerate of other people. So anyway...Thanks for the video. We’re definitely changing our plans. Hope your next trip is much more relaxing and quiet.

This should not be a party spot. It is pretty disrespectful and inconsiderate to everyone else. If you want to get drunk and party go find a spot where it isn't going to ruin everyone else's time. Or simply keep it down.

If you cant have a good time without being stoned, drunk, or letting everybody know your taste of music is have fun. You will lobe some dude whipping his stuff out pissing in the spring throwing his beer can on the ground yeah loud music is my problem

@@L2theWcarscoffeelife In your opinion, since I will be attempting to camp solo, do I need to register for a gun? I never owned one but with the way the world is lately.....
@L2theWcarscoffeelife2 жыл бұрын
First most if not all State and Federal parks prohibit firearms. Privately owned would be up to them. I do believe in our right to bear arms I would just say get training on how to use it and be familiar with laws carrying one especially across state lines not all states accept another ones concealed carry. Just be sure you will use one you pull a gun and hesitate or wont fire now the bad guy has your gun its a huge deal to pull a weapon just make sure you can handle it and get training just be careful.
