Does your dad have a Social Security Number? The form to request the SSN requires parents" names, DOB, etc., and can shed light on family history. A copy of a relative's form can be requested from the State Archives or State Registrar's Office. Also, was your dad's father's name left off your dad's Birth Certificate? If I was, try looking up Census records for your dad's mother at the time he was born. They almost always include husband, children, or parents.

Producers of the Who Do You Think You Are show, you rarely feature African Americans, why not? I recall Spike Lee, Blair Underwood, and Jerome Bettis. Oh yes, and Naomi Harris. That one was so good. There may have been more, but they seem so few and far between. Dr. Henry Lewis Gates' show Finding Your Roots features a greater diversity of people.
