The look on Ginnifer's face when she read about her grandmothers arrest was heartbreaking. I just wanted to give her the biggest hug.😢

this is just a tip of the iceberg, most of us do not know the truth about people living in the 1800.1900 or our families, as there was no computers, all was hand written, so I don't know if all is record kept.

What a painful search. I feel very sad for her, and so grateful for the grandparents i was blessed with. If i could, i would lend them to her. They were the grandparents every child should have. My heart goes out to her, and i hope that her life is blessed with happiness and the best and kindest people.

You can still see the steps that once belonged to 933 Travis St in Shreveport; the home her grandmother was living in when she was arrested. The homes on that street have been torn down.

The death certificate specifies she died at Minden Sanit. (so sanitarium) was she in a mental asylum? was she tubercular? or was this the name of the institution offering long term support to addicts? Minden Sanitarium was chartered in 1926 and housed 35 patients in her day. It was dissolved in 1981 and the building still exists as part of Minden Medical Center. Its stated purpose was "alleviation of human suffering" so sorta vague, but since it seems to have been absorbed into Minden Medical Center, they might have records from that era.

How sad that the granddaughter tries to get information 😢 and Reveal the Mystery about who was her Grandmother 👵 😢 and this is what she finds out. So tragic. Probably the Grandmother had very hard life and she was constantly getting more and more in troubles without a supportive family. Efrat.

I would forgive her if she was my Grandmother because it seems like she had very Tragic life 😢. So sad. Nothing Respectful to tell the future Generations, except that Grandmother had a very sad and tragic life and she probably didn't have anyone to support her and help her. I think she was very Lovely and nobody to Love her and Encourage her. She kept getting in troubles all the time. I don't know why. I probably missed some Chapters. Efrat

Interesting that even on a legal document she lost the rights to her first name since she was married.

Lost the rights? No, she still had a first name. It was just the convention of the time to say Mrs. John Smith if the woman was married, and Mrs. Sally Smith if she was widowed. It wasn’t a matter of “rights”, just tradition.

Easy to forgive if you know that you first set yourself free. I hope that you aren't carrying/nursing old wounds that chain you to a painful past. I have a family member who clings to them like a 10# diamond. She needs to be 'right", the "winner", at any cost. All perspective is lost, no ability to imagine there might be opposing facts, and the cost - one son, her younger sister, and likely others. So very sad.

People do the best they can. Trauma is often passed down and added to poverty it can created some awful paths for people in those situations. So, dear Ginnifer, do forgive her. She was human and made some bad choices that may have felt like the only choice in front of her at the time. I'm from the South, moved to California years ago. I'm the first person in my family to finish college with an MA. My mom's mother could barely write. Now I'm sick but still trying because we owe it to ourselves and the past we carry with us, their past, to keep doing all we can. It takes strengh to forgive.

@thevocalcrone A lot of that sort of pleasantries/greetings/farewells/thanks/etc is edited out of the show to shorten it for broadcast. Rest assured everybody whose skills and talents were solicited to assist in these shows is properly thanked by the clients in question.

@@vickenator wouldn't it be nice to show this as part of the show then? teaching the next generation how to be gracious, grateful and respectful? instead of portraying them as thankless ingrates with an enormous amount of entitlement to other peoples time (even if they are paid).. the expertise to be able to get the informationis garnished from years of effort.

@@thevocalcrone If you want to watch a two hour show, then sure, but most of the people seem quite grateful for the appraisal and are very respectful. You don't see people cutting off the appraisers or anything like that. I don't think showing the guests genuflecting before the appraisers would add a lot to the show personally.
