His younger brother(Ross) is one of the background singers. He also co-wrote this song. His older brother(Joe) is on keyboards. His first American TV appearance was on Soul Train.

Gino Vannelli is criminally underrated and ultra talented. I love Gino Vannelli and heard him from since I was a kid. As an adult, I can appreciate him even more. Definitely keep listening.

His other big hit was "Living Inside Myself." A great, dramatic early '80s R&B ballad.

Just love this song. Back then we didn’t know where songs came from, they just appeared on the radio and you had no idea when they’d appear again! Now, we have the capacity & pleasure to hear this songs wonderful melodies, structure and chorus any time we want!

Yes it was a #1 song in 1979. When I moved from México to Toronto. I was a teen only a teen ager.

Vannelli appeared on Soul Train. He was part of a genre of blue-eyed soul in the mid-70's to the mid-80's. Hall and Oates, Michael McDonald, Rick Ashley, even David Bowie fit into that niche.

His Greatest Hits album is loaded with incredible music, all react worthy Jack! Quite the rabbit hole. FYI, back in 1977, I was enrolled in LSU in Baton Rouge and had a roommate that could pass as Gino Vannelli's twin!! He was the one who turned me on to Gino and was blown away by his awesome vocal talent and songwriting.

Thanks again, Trace. Many channels I sub to have reacted to IJWS (and loved it) so I was hoping one day Jack would get his turn. I strongly expected Jack to be into the song and he didn’t disappoint, fully appreciating all the components of this blue-eyed soul classic. ✌🏽
