Reyna's dribbling has been relatively underrated. I'd say it's because he's tall and looks 'slow' but he's up there with Pulisic and Dest. Arguably better than both.

it'd be great if - Gio would actually stay healthy... so far he seems to be a little _too_ much like his equally talented father 😞 - he could be reasonably effective as a false 9 for the USMNats -- the team has other good CAM options, but nothing remotely as good at the 9 Do some gd yoga, Gio.

Is he a better attacking center mid than Westin or Musah? Gregg probably doesn't trust him in terms of trying to dribble too much and he doesn't pass the ball until he reaches the other teams 18 if he does at all. I wouldn't mind seeing him at the 9 just t see what would happen but there's probably not enough time left to experiment before things get real in Nov. Hope he can stay healthy because he would be a nice game changer to bring off the bench or starting. Especially running at the other teams tired defenders if we need a goal or trying to extend a lead when we smell blood. Amazing how much he looks like his dad with his body movements and running style. It's like watching Claudio highlights in some of the cuts.

@@adamgt4037 Not new at all. You don't understand the concept of team play VS Individual play. He's a fantastic talent no doubt. But so is Weah and Aaronson. He's competing with both of them for that Rt wing/fwd spot. They all bring something different to the team. This isn't speculation it's a fact whether you like it or not. Gregg's system formation and view of Gio has made it so. Even if he's healthy he might not start.

Don't forget. Reyna is much younger. He has the potential to be better for sure. At the same time, they are different types of players, so it can be subjective who is better. As of now, Pulisic produces more (goal, assist, dangerous moments), but Reyna is the better skilled (my subjective observation). Reyna could very well be the top star for us (like Pulisic is now) by the 2026 WC.

It's why Man City loved him but still got rid of him, and it's why his legacy with the national team is eclipsed by more reliable contributors like McBride, Donovan, Dempsey. Arguably even stalwarts like Bocanegra and Cherundolo. That Claudio Reyna struggled with injuries is common knowledge.

I would play Reyna up top with Pulisic and Weah on the wings. Yunus Musah, Mckennie, Adams, and Aaronson in the middle. Dest, Zimmerman and Robinson on the backend with Turner manning the goal. 3-4-3 is USA's best lineup.
