Hey everyone! Thought I'd do a short one on my case trimmer journey and my thoughts on the Giraud vs. LE Wilson trimmers. Enjoy!

Hey everyone! Reviewing the comments below, I TOTALLY forgot to mention that there is a power drill adapter option for the L.E. Wilson that can help speed things up a bit and save your wrist! As I mentioned to a couple of folks below, just make sure that you set your power drill speed correctly for the caliber you're trimming so you don't bind the trimmer head (too slow) on the case mouth. Thanks again for watching everyone!

I have had the L.E. Wilson case trimmer for 3/5 years now, and it is perfect (slightly different style than the micrometers that you have, silver in color). I am doing right now 308 Winchester brass. Then I got to annealing 308/6.5 CM brass (EP Integration annealer).

Hi Rudolph! Jason below uses the power drill adapter and that can speed things up a bit. As I mentioned to him, just make sure you set the speed of the drill properly. Thanks for watching my friend!

Giraud tri way - $119 shipped got it in less than a week. Trimmed around 3,000 223 cases this past Saturday. The most fun I have had ever trimming cases. Just ordered one for 308 yesterday. The worst part of reloading was trimming and bevel. Not any more. I f you only have a few calibers you shoot volume, the tri way by Giraud is the way to go.

Just recently started reloading. I have the LE Wilson but I bought the adapter to run it with a power drill. Haven’t used it yet. I fire formed my first batch, hoping to shoot my first ladder test this weekend. We’ll see how case trimming goes soon. Great video.

HI Jason! Yep, I was using that adapter as well and it worked OK. Just be sure to find the right speed that works for the brass you're trimming and you should be good to go. Thanks for watching my friend!

The issue with the Giraud is it locates off the shoulder, which can be variable, especially with mixed lots of brass.

Another great and informative video. Mind me asking why u have what looks like electrical tape on the cover?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray! The electrical tape is along that "window" so not so many brass filings get through. It amazed me how many filings came through that clear shield! Thanks for watching my friend!

So does putting the tap around top and bottom keep the brass particles from getting out..I'm having same issue as you and was thinking of doing what u did..I love the trimmer..how do u clean your trimmer..I'm looking for a small hose like thing to get back behind the inside of the trimmer..
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Жыл бұрын
Hi Michael! Yep, putting the tape around the top and bottom does help reduce shaving leakage. To clean it every time I use it, I simple take a vacuum hose and place it over the opening, which get's 90% of everything out of the trimming chamber. Once in a while I will take it apart though and give it a thorough cleaning. Thanks for watching my friend!

Have you used the Lyman xpress case trimmer? I don't like the manual ones and for a motorized one, it seemed like a fair priced option
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Жыл бұрын
Hi ForceRecon112! I have not used the Lyman, but it looks really promising. The only thing about it was the fact that it is an open trimmer, so filings would be all over the place...At least the one I looked at was open. If they sealed that cutter like the Giraud I think it might be a great option at a good price point. Thanks for watching as usual my friend!

Hey Gardissono s!! I get more people commenting on my Big Red mug! OK, I'll tell you the story...When I was a kid, I watched college football and LOVED how that offensive line just plowed their way down the field against these puny defenses, and that's when I became a Big Red fan. I didn't go there, but I just love the simplicity of the team and the logo. Thanks for watching my friend, and yes...GO BIG RED!

How many thousand and thousands and thousands of pieces of brass have I trimmed, chamfered and deburd with my Frankfort arsenal in 3-steps?? I wish I would have bought this Geraurd years ago. My buddy tried to get me to buy one 8-years ago but they are just so expensive

They are not worth what he is asking. Unless you are an ACE shooter competing in the highest of competitions around the world you will not be missing much with a manual trimmer vs a true precision tool (the GIRAUD is not a precision or consistent tool).

I have used my Frankford arsenal trimmer for 5 years with the carbide cutter. What do u not like about it?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew! I haven't used the Frankford trimmer, just the case prep tool (without the cutter). But, in my research I was concerned about the brass shavings being thrown around by the unshielded cutting head. The Griaud contains the trimmings so I just have to vacuum them out every cutting session. Also, I notice that the Frankford doesn't accept straight cases such as a .357 Magnum pistol case where the Giraud does accept them. I think the Frankford is a valid option for sure and maybe you just place it in a aluminum baking pan for example that can contain the filings. Thanks for watching my friend!
@1clnsdime1
@1clnsdime1 2 жыл бұрын
@@The4GunGuy yea there are a few places that sell a pan for the shavings. It doesn't spin near as fast as the griaud and does have a cover on the top so the shaving fall out the bottom to the catch pan. It does work very well but not as fast as the griaud trimmer. Just another option that is cheaper. I would love to get the griaud or the Henderson one day if the Frankford dies. Just a heads up for anyone with the Frankford arsenal the RCBS carbide cutter is worth it and makes it cut quicker.

Your case to case variation on the LE Wilson comes from that junk Sinclair micrometer. Sinclair's quality is not what it used to be and MANY people have been complaining of its repeatability. With the LE Wilson micrometer, their upgraded TiN cutter, and their power adapter, I get exactly 0 case to case variation. Mixed once fired brass, all comes out exactly where I set it. 2.005" exact in the case of 308/7.62NATO. My Mitutoyo calipers are not accurate enough to detect even a .0005" variation.
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Жыл бұрын
Hi Darryl! You're right about that micrometer...For one, it drifted all the time and was a pain. I do like this Giraud for the "all in one" functionality (trim, chamfer and deburr) though. Hey thanks for your input and for watching my friend!
