Gird Up the Loins of Your Mind, Be Prepared for Action

The biblical custom of wearing a long robe made it necessary, when a person needed greater mobility, to gather up the material and secure it with a belt around the waist. This shortening of the robe for quick movement is described by the word “gird.” Using this illustration, the Bible is telling us that we are to always be ready to act for God.
