Girder and Panel is a construction toy from the 1960's to the 1980's. You could make some impressive buildings with it. If they could create a castle version, we could make customizable Castles and tower for our games.

My mother bought me a Girders & Panels set when I was a kid in the 70s. I spent many, many hours building buildings with it.

These are a lot older than the 80s. I still have a set from the 60s.

The order would be like 1000 vertical supports, 2000 horizontal beams, 200 stone panels, 200 wood floors, 30 stairs, and 1 pit trap. I then would be going to a model train store and buying $100 worth of terrain.

I remember having something like this in the late 60s in the UK. The I beams were yellow plastic and the panels with windows were grey with the lower parts being red or blue you fitted the to a grey base with holes for clear plastic six sided connectors, I’d love to still have it

You would buy 10 sets with 100 special attachments and I wouldn't see you all day. The Game of Thrones people could build Castle Black on the wall. I would like to see that build.

After I spend two weeks creating the blueprints of that castle.

Kenner girder and panel construction sets. Out of production since 2016, see above link. Still have some of the red stuff and roadway in storage. We also have the water treatment set that pumps water through tubing and tanks. Scan the parts and 3D print out a few hundred pieces for your own use. You could print out castle walls, entries, drawbridges..etc on cardstock, cut out and punch holes to fit them.

These were the best construction toy ever: way more realistic than Lego, easy to snap together, could make skyscrapers, bridges, cranes, with roadways, etc. I can't believe they don't make them anymore. They should bring them back and offer more sets for more projects, with the ability to integrate with model trains and Motorific cars. Don't kids still want to build skyscrapers, bridges, and futuristic cities?

it has been so long, I forgot the name of that set. My grandparents had a set of them things, eons ago, such fun times. 3D printed textured panels would be a major change from the original clear plastic sheets with print/paint on them, would be interesting to see someone do that. the overlapping on the verticals may need some work, can't over lap 3D printed stuff as easily as the printed/painted cellophane sheets on them pegs that hold the panels. P.S. not the food packing cellophane sheets, go to an office supply outlet, go to the 3-ring binder section, and look at the clear plastic binder things you put papers into, that cellophane (it's got some rigidity to it).

My thought on that was a small notch in the texture panels. So that the left side always fit over the right side of the panel to the right. Then because the over lapping texture fit into a groove, it would be stronger.
