Girivalam Thiruvannamalai | First time experience Girivalam in English | Arunachalam Giripradakshina

Thiruvannamalai is the holy town of Arunachaleshwara / Annamalaiyar. Lord Shiva rules here as the Agni sthalam. Tiruvannamalai being a Jyothirlingam it is also said this is where He appears as column of light and later cools down in the Arunchalam Hill. People walk around the hill which is akin to pradikshana of Lord Shiva. The Girivalam path is a 14km walk on Tar road.
People do Girivalam to full fill their wishes, offer prayers and more. Fitness or not, devotion ensures you to finish the 14km.

Which area is best to find accommodation for a westerner, please, Ma? Also, where is the Nithyananda temple? Is there accommodation there? An ashram?

I see most westerners in Sparsa resorts or Ramana Maharishi ashram. Nithyananda temple is on the girivalam path, not sure of accommodation

@@katylux2180 you can walk through night too.. ppl walk all around the time. Some choose to just do walk and visit temple later. Temple opens at 5am. Also can wear socks. If you find it hard, have Bhakti at heart and walk with slippers/ shoes. No harm.

hi..just wanted to know iif the girivalam can be done any day in the night? like can I start at 8pm and hope the 8 lingams and rajagabram will be open by the time I finish? thanks in advance

Some of the lingams will start to close down around midnight. Some will have door closed (but you can see the lingam through the door). the temple main doors also will be shut by midnight. but there will be bhaktas outside, praying and starting on their journey or finishing it. Ppl will always be there, and Annamalaiyar will be watching as well :) He is the Giri
