I blind bought BR540 for myself. Turns out I am 100% anosmic to it. First fragrance ever I cannot smell at all. Gave it to my fiancé, who recons it's to sweet for me anyway.

Openings are way too fleeting to have much weight in any ranking, imho. Let's say 15 mins of opening versus 6 hours of drydown, that's the same as only about 6% versus 94%. The more longevity in the fragrance, then even less relevance in the opening. Incredibly, some reviewers still only check the opening (rolleyes.) Great that you guys check both. But still, when assessing them the nose spends about 50% and 50% of smelling time on the openings vs. on the drydowns, as if they were equally lasting or equally important. That is still hugely skewed, does not correlate to the wearing experience of a fragrance at all.

I didn't like Interlude Black Iris at all. Purchased it at Neiman Marcus but returned it. 🤣 It was so strong and harsh. $340+ tax, I remember. Mr. Marcus let me return it without any problems. Some other stores are very difficult at accepting fragrance returns.

Ah forgot to mention this. If you think D&G Light Blue Forever has a "natural" grapefruit smell, I suggest check the smell of Taylor of Old Bond Street's "Grapefruit Shaving Cream". I smell that and my mouth actually waters. Maybe there is a psychological effect of the cream looking like icecream and having that smell. In any case it smells so completely and reallistically edible that the mouth actually waters. Imho the D&G is nowhere near achieving something like that.

Light Blue forever seems to be given to be given to youtubbers to hype, there has to be some sort of incentive towards LBF. It is the most basic non developing scent out there. Totally linear. The grapefruit opening is highly realistic but that’s all it has. There is not even a remote comparison to it and the likes of black iris.

It’s honestly impossible to decide off this list. Luminous night is one of those frags I’ve sampled but can’t buy a full bottle due to being in the USA. Then again, everything else on this list including my top 10 fave Black Iris, are all exceptional!

I've never smelled Light Blue Forever before, but I can sorta imagine what it smells like from the description. Have you ever smelled like orange or grapefruit rind? (Do you even know what rind means? It seems like you don't) It still has the citrusy and juicy fruit smell but is drier and a bit bitter too, and I think that's what Ash means
