yeah same, it's hard to recognise where it comes from but for me it is just from my ADHD. I went on Concerta XL (extended release methylphenidate) and it was life changing. I was cautious about it but I think trying it is something any ADHDers should do.

I usuallydon't comment but I just have to say, surrogacy is so unregulated it's insane. I'm a woman and also a stem major so I've had my fair share of bioethics classes and surrogacy is rampant with extortion and what I would call "legal ransoming" of the children, not to mention a lot of companies that make their money through surrogacy target underprivileged women who are not made fully aware what they argoing into. It definetly needs more research and regulation to be considered viable imo

It’s kind of a hard watch if you’re not already into slice of life anime type stuff. It’s a coming of age story without the story, it’s all about the vibe. It’s a very good movie, but it’s definitely not made for a western audience so it can be a bit hit or miss with people. Totoro is the same way.

It doesn’t follow any type of storytelling that exists in western media. It’s a meandering plot without much of a story, and it’s more about the emotion and vibe than the actual plot.

I think the reason people found Kiki and Totoro boring is because they were meant to invoke nostalgia. Nostalgia of childhood, of going to countryside (in my case to visit my grandparents) and running around in a strange new place. Kiki was all about the movie away for the first time, these movies were meant to invoke that feeling of doing cartwheels and playing till sundown in a garden or watching the first sunset/sunrise falling over a city and falling in love with the city itself because even if you're far from home, this could be your home. You need to let them wash over you, think about the past and see the golden memories. And by the way it's perfectly fine to not be in that introspective mood when you watch, but I would recommend Kiki and Totoro are the movies which should be put when you feel yearning and melancholia for the past.

1:14:42 I learned the other day that post partem is also a thing in partners. I'm a dude and got really depressed and wasn't bonding with my son for like a year (despite trying really hard). Eventually we got there and I love him so much. I didn't know it was PPD until a psychologist told me it probably was. I felt so guilty and jealous of my partner for having a connection I couldn't feel with him at first(I still did all the dad stuff, changing diapers, getting up at 3 AM to feed him etc, just no emotional connection). I still feel bad about it ten years later.

I’m autistic with OCD and my brothers have both ADHD and Tourette’s and that was a miserable household growing up. (One Tourette’s mild and one so severe it often looked like seizures. Cartilage has worn out at the joints bc of 24-7 spasms). There was a lot of unavoidable conflict. Imagine being caught in a constant loop. of friction neither person can break easily. I find it easier to interact with neurotypical people since normally you can follow the social guideline and know what role to play. Online people always seem more accepting but in person people are still very mocking. At work multiple times a day someone will make fun of me for doing specific things so I try to do it when they’re not looking.

The order in which psychological things are handled are so interesting but also so hard and frustrating at times. I have PTSD and due to that we have to wait till that's figured out before really getting any more diagnoses it's like depression PTSD then anxiety and then figuring everything else out 😮‍💨

Self diagnosing is often necessary Poki, getting an autism diagnosis costs hundreds of dollars and is rarely covered by insurance, especially in adulthood. Particularly in adulthood an official diagnosis is not going to get you much aside from peace of mind, so it feels useless to many to get one. Also QT - not saying you are not neurodivergent, but a lot of trauma disorders have a lot of symptom overlap with autism. One more thing, everyone is not a little "neurospicy". There are 100% neurotypical people, and saying this can take away from how disabling the conditions can be.

Super frustrating seeing people devalue things like autism, by claiming diagnosis for so many of these "neurospicy" conditions when it's really just trauma.
