She did everything right, dove down to the rock ledge when bigger waves came, stayed relatively calm, then swam back to the climb out spot after the largest wave in the set. Local girl for sure.

She did everything right. She didn't panic. She held her ground and dived deep in a deep part of the bowl as each wave in the set passed through. As the set of waves ended she then and only then retreated to the rim. She should never have been in there though.

I'm not familiar with ocean waters and swimming AT ALL, but I agree with you here. I talked to a lifeguard who watched this, and he said, there's no way he'd be going in, even though he swam his whole life. Honestly, the waves were much smaller earlier, and I was just filming to show how she was just diving under each wave. When I started recording, the 3 biggest waves happened to hit, and that's when everybody was yelling and her and her fam left after that.

@@sumanamjsYou have no idea what you're talking about. People have been telling me im gonna die every time I go out there and surf 20+ft waves. It's always tourists and people who have no idea how the ocean works or anything, and they have the audacity to tell me that ever since i was 9 years old, that's 21 years they've been telling me im gonna drown out there. Well, I'm still here, and not only did I not drown but I have saved about 15 lives while surfing out there. I don't feel in any danger whatsoever, in fact I have come closer to dying while driving a vehicle or being a pedestrian than being in the ocean. The ocean is predictable and always does the same thing, people on the other hand...
@RedLineShortFilms

@@KurtRomboughThe ocean is extremely predictable, way more predictable than anything else in life, it always behaves the same way. I have spent close to 35 000 hours swimming, surfing, kayaking, riding waves. The ocean always behaves the same way, you can't convince me that it's not the case. Any waterman will tell you the same thing.
@KurtRombough
@KurtRombough Жыл бұрын
@@RedLineShortFilms While I understand what you're saying, there are many things in life that are more predictable. Flat ground for example. :P I appreciate that while intense, surfing is a pretty safe sport. Waves and swells in combination with rocks are much less safe. You have a LOT more experience than I do with the ocean. But that doesn't change the fact that people die in the water. Experienced or not, accidents and mistakes unfortunately happen.

Best thing to do in that situation is use breaststroke keeping your head above water so you can see what waves are coming. Also with breaststroke you're able to get as much air as you need by keeping your head above the water checking your surroundings

Oh, nothing here to be concerned about - if the girl lost her footing and was swept in by the incoming powerful waves she could rely on the cushion effect of the vertical rock walls to stabilise her! 😂🤣 People are quite oblivious of the power of water. We have had tropical rain here for 5 days, 8" or more per day, and many roads have fast running water across the causeways in the rural/urban hinterland low hills. That often happens, sufficient for residents to be familiar with the risks of crossing through floodwaters. Even the continual warnings on radio and television have not dissuaded 3-4 locals from losing their lives and dozens more from failing in their efforts to sneak through and calling on rescue services to protect their lives from their own personal stupidity.
