You know, I didn't see it as jealousy. More as sadness. He loved his best friends but its hard not to feel like a third wheell/spare part when Corpanga started a family and he couldnt even have a serous relationship. I imagine he started drifting away bit by bit, on shoots and writing trips etc until he was more out of new york than in. And eventually they saw him less and less. Riley saw him a couple times in her life and Auggie probably even lesser.

Shawn said during Cory's and Topanga's wedding that he and Cory can't be the same best friends they were before. Sure, you can argue that in GMW they're just as close as they ever were, but it's also different. Why? Because he has a life outside of Shawn's now. He's a father of two and a father figure a girl who is very much like Shawn, which compels Cory to help her in more ways now that he wished he could've done for Shawn. He's a teacher of a middle school and then a high-school. And besides, Shawn said it himself. It doesn't matter if they're not best friends, because Cory has Topanga.

I don't think it was the new clothes that made Maya disappear. I think its what Josh said....Maya and Riley are best friends and the moment Riley started caring about Lucas, Maya needed to protect her....to make sure she was safe with Lucas....so she became Riley so she could know Lucas like Riley did....and then when she realized her best friend was safe with Lucas, she came back.

This whole episode was a mess from start to finish. At no point did Shawn ever become Cory ever in his whole life, until this episode where he’s suddenly having a Cory/Feeny/Mr. Squirrels identity crisis completely out of nowhere. Cory and Topanga practically badgered Shawn and Katy into getting engaged. Maya no longer being a deliquent little shit should not be portrayed as a bad thing. It’s bad enough they want her to change back but for Shawn to want to regress to his TEENAGED self is ridiculous. And finally, Shawn Hunter was madly, deeply, head over heels in love with Angela Moore. He absolutely, unequivocally did not simply date her because “he felt he had to.” What nonsense. And for Topanga to say she’s never seen Shawn in love before is straight up disrespectful to all parties involved. To the writer of this episode: I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
