Actually, she was making excellent points, and it was Charlie who only wanted to hear his own voice concerning his idea that education should revolve around religion. And the girl correctly argued that you can't do that, because people have different beliefs. She thought college should be about studying those beliefs and talking about those beliefs. Charlie is hung up on college only teaching about God. I feel like the title of this video is completely wrong. She had a wonderful take, and I fully support that idea of discussing our differences and finding out where we agree and how we can respectfully disagree. I think that's how you create good people in college. You don't do it how Charlie wants to do it, you know, forcing everyone to submit to a single ideology.

Right out of the gate, she said that education is good on all levels because that's how he learned to read and write which allowed him to write a book, and Charlie responded, "Do you know where I went to college?" and she said nothing about him learning to read and write in college. Why is it that people learn so little in the first 12 yr that 4 more years is needed? It seems the home schooled kids I meet know more by the time they graduate HS than most college graduates. The problem with that statement is that most employers won't test/measure what you learned at a library. You can't 'self study' a job in healthcare or even more basic jobs in finance or teaching. I had a couple years working in recruitment for banks/ Big 4 etc (sociable but VERY repetitive) and most corporates have a very rigid/ narrow and honestly lazy attitude to recruiting good staff. They look for specific experience and qualifications and then expect the person to conform. Many Corporates won't even employ ppl to work in a call center without a Degree. The system protects itself to a certain extent.

In philosophy classes for example (also valid in other classes), there is no right or wrong, as long as you can support your ideas with facts and valid references of those facts. But we digress from the point here, the MAIN points about college is either getting a technical degree (Ambulance medics/accountant/dietician/police/design/etc) or a pre university program like marketing/medical/business/politics/. The job related to those degrees REQUIRES knowledge either through someone outside college that thought you because they have being doing it and know hownto, or by college. Don't rely on this girl to be representative of most people there. People who say the cost isn't worth what you get out of it is BS. When you're on your 3rd year of college, you have to intern where you can either stay after completion or getting a better offer. It has WAY more to do with the way she carried herself throughout, but more so her complete refusal to even try to listen and understand someone she disagrees with. If you need someone watching you to do the right thing, you are inherently not a good person. *I'm watching me,* unavoidably keeping score and my own verdict of self is essential to my existence and well being. That said--Christianity is more likely to offer incentive for bad behavior as everything is forgiven except the most trivial "transgressions": failing to accept Jesus and blasphemy which hurt no one. Rape, murder, genocide, all good to go to heaven. Clearly these rules are fabricated to feed the church NOT morality or a healthy society.

I learned software engineering from KZbin videos -- this girl doesn't understand that education isn't limited to a college campus -- if a person takes initiative and seeks knowledge, they will grow, through trial and error by putting forth effort. With or without a college campus. College didn't play a (crucial) role in my career development, but education did. There is a difference. I agree, College is a scam for most, and I'd also give the following advice to anyone considering a college degree: "Do NOT go to college UNLESS you NEED the degree to get into that field"

I am an immigrant to the US. I was a terrible student and never went to college. But I had ambition to be successful. I stacked pizza boxes, waited tables. By 30 I made 6 figures, took a company public and own real estate in 5 states. Of my classmates that went to college, most never used the psychology degree they got (about 70% got psychology degrees). Don't let school interfere with your education.

Many kids think it’s there right of passage to go and have the experience of college parties, std’s, it’s just the freedom of exploration. That’s how they view college , all their friends are doing it, meaning all their friends also have parents that have enough money to send them. It’s kinda like that trip to the White House in 8th grade . If your parents had enough money to send u then you were of a higher value lol There not going to college for an education … we all know that’s unnecessary. Do you have what it takes and it’s very easy to see she doesn’t have that factor . I wouldn’t leave her to babysit my children. She’s a liability waiting to happen.

@@TheZod00 Spend all your free time learning that. Take the home path buyers training on line. I took all the real estate courses and advanced classes. One day I had to take that online training. I was very impressed with the simplicity of it . But there’s an enormous amount of KZbin training . If u seek it u will find it .

Yeah. I would almost agree with her on that point, except that the result of spoiled privileged kids sitting around doing drugs and having all-night conversations for four years or more is not a bunch of people running around solving all the world’s real problems. The actual result is them simply learning to criticize everything that moves and only having the dumbest suggestions on how to fix things. They want to make the whole world their laboratory, and never mind how many of us mice and monkeys get destroyed in the process. If there was a better way to determine the quality of the individuals involved, sure, letting them sit around all day coming up with great ideas on the taxpayer’s dime would be great. But, the average American college student? Nah. Put them to work, before they wind up sawing off some poor depressed kid’s wiener. lol. Too late!
