That's what "muscle-memory" is all about. For me it's like typing on a keyboard as a programmer and having a conversation, or for a dancer while talking, or driving a rallycar while talking to the navigator next to him/her. Incredible how multitasking a human being can be. 😀

looking away from the piano while playing takes a month or two to learn and improves level of play by an incredible amount. sadly this technique is rarely taught.

People used to say that about my playing the flute. You NEVER see the keys but you just know what to hit and comes natural. A good piano player would be the same way. All players who learn and play an instrument are never really appreciated for their learned skills.
