Heard Tracy Chapman’s voice, coming up the stairs in the Harvard Square T station, five years before she broke. We stopped and listened to three songs. When I heard her on the radio, I had no doubt who it was.

:) Was riding my motorcycle on my commute to work. When stopped at a light behind a cool old Geo Tracker (lil old Jeep type thing), I heard "Rosemary" coming from it. I yelled out (through my helmet) I LOVE SIERRA FERREL!!! The young lady driving noticed me and responded "ME TOO", and I; "followed her over 5 years!!!", young lady; "ME TOO".........my spirit soared :)

Found this 6/25/24, and it's from 2015! Spectacular to learn that the now-famous "Sierra Ferrell Effect" was underway that long ago. Distinctive rendition by a pleasant, quirky, band. Sierra's max-expressive voice is nearly matched by her costume, creating a theatrical scene.

Lots busking musicians are angels. Many are amazing and will never make it. In those times, Sierra was a travelling hobo street musician. Check the dog for personal security (trainhoping etc) Cheap old instrument bags, cheap "made in china" resonator guitars. She only "made it" in 2018 or so. I know personally quite a few musicians who made a carrer starting in the streets or the subway. I busked and played tiny bars for years.. and finally became a full time working musician. Not a star:) but I play big venues/festivals (accompanying mostly) and make a good living of it. New Orleans is full of great street musicians. Alynda Segarra (Hurray for the Riff Raff) is another one who made a career from busking in New Orleans.

We seen her too when we were there for Christmas 2014. She's amazing. Shine Delphi told us her name but we can't remember. What a voice! She sang a song of her own called Little Bird. With her talent, she will turn up on KZbin more soon. One of my best vacations ever - New Orleans!
