Bruno is the family member who ventured outside of family expectations and in a way was ostracized for doing so, hence-we don’t talk about Bruno. I’m pretty sure the movie is about generational traumas especially in Latin families. Bruno went on his own path and in the family that’s considered going against the family. Mirabel doesn’t have a power because she’s meant to break the pattern. And the grandmother in no way could have known the harm that was unfolding because in her heart her expectations were what’s best for the family. At least that’s how I interpreted it, coming from a Latin family. Great podcast, btw! It was fun to have more feminine centric conversations! (the boys were fun last week too)

I'm a guy so take this with a grain of salt, but I feel like as a general rule, don't compliment women on something you wouldn't compliment a guy for as well, unless you know the person well enough. As a guy you probably wouldn't tell another guy he has nice thighs or boobs or butt. So it's then painfully obvious you're only complimenting those things because of sexual reasons which will make women uncomfortable. As well as that you should always try to compliment things that they have real control over. Women (at least not easily) can't change the size or shape of their body, so complimenting them on those things is like saying, "hey, nice genetics". Compliment a woman on her outfit, her hair, her makeup, etc. and make sure it's not a sexual compliment. For example, "Your makeup looks amazing" or "I love that dress you look fire", rather than, "that dress makes you look sexy". It will show that you're actually paying attention to them and not just viewing them as a walking sexual object.

Rae got bashed by haters for saying the exact same thing to the point she had to apologize to QT. But this just shows what she said and everyone else's observation about the recap video were valid and are not in any way trying to degrade the awards show as a whole.

yeah, QT saw the clip out of context, which made Rae seem like she was only complaining, when the whole time she just had lots of good things to say as well. totally valid nonetheless, since any feedback can only make the show better next year^^

@@henrylo6773 not to mention a lot of the famous creators like ishowspeed, Dontai, etc are in very separated side of Twitch compared to OTV/100T etc. I know QT tried to reach out to them, like Adin Ross, but they didn't end up coming. Hopefully they saw the success of the show and are more willing to come next year.

Your comparison to rap is off as well, we created the genre and shape the culture so of course the optics and demographics are going to reflect that. That has nothing to do with Black people in streaming spaces and being represented in these kinds of award shows, I'd suggest you listen to what we have to say about our own experiences rather than making awful comparisons.
