The desire thing is sooooo tricky. The irony about birth control (at least hormonal) is that it often kills your sex drive. So it's like "great I can't get pregnant but now I also don't even want to have sex which would lead to pregnancy." I personally struggle with the fact that I have been on BC for so long and throughout my entire sex life that I don't even know what my "normal" desire level is. Luckily BC is the only drug I have to contend with, but it's still so tricky.

Hi! I’m the one who submitted the advice question about my best friend liking the same guy as me. To answer a few of your follow-up questions, yes, she did know I liked him, and yes, I had even been talking to him for a little bit(but nothing super serious). She came up to me and basically said “Hey, I’m sorry but I like the same guy as you.” I was honestly just shocked at first but eventually she and I agreed that we wanted to keep our friendship and that neither of us would pursue our feelings. But then, she started talking to him more and eventually they ended up dating and our friendship kind of faded out. I miss her, but I think in the end, liking the same guy was kind of more of the catalyst of the end but not the cause.

To add to the stories of sex on meds - I'm on an anti-depressant that kills my ability to orgasm and it's definitely a challenge but your tips are so good! My libido itself isn't *gone* necessarily, sex just takes a lot more time and intention which can be frustrating for sure. Also, I put this in my pocket on a walk so in a way you already have a podcast :)

I am Canadian and my partner is Scottish as well! I have lived in Scotland the last couple years and now we are here so that he can experience Canada for a couple years as well. Scotland has my heart and his as well - so I absolutely hear and understand you on the family side of things. Its hard feeling like youre missing so many milestones and experiences while living abroad - but what gets me by is the excitement for new memories and experiences with HIS family and following the dream I have had for years. Scotland feels like home, and youre right - my family would be gutted if we decided to stay here just for comfort of being closer and missing out on dreams/adventures!! If we find ourselves in Scotland around the same time, I would love to get together! Its where we want to set our roots but its definitely a HUGE change from North American life. I am so excited for you and Matt and this journey you are on!! Never apologize for following your dreams and doing what makes your heart happy. Everything else will fall into place.

Re:libido on meds - yes to everything you're saying! I also have let go of the idea that sex is linear. When I stopped thinking about orgasms and how sex would end, getting more into the moment (which isn't always easy on meds, but gets easier as you try it) and the sensations of the moment, I had a better time with my partner.
