A few tips I think will help you enjoy a bit more relaxing of a play through. 1) Main characters like Dogmeat, Preston, Codsworth, etc can’t actually die they will only go down and ask for help 2) you can actually keep storage at a settlement and containers should save anything you put in them at the settlements, I’m super ocd in the game so I like to organize all my guns, armor etc in different ones 3) To assign workers you just talk to someone when you’re in build mode, walk to what you want them assigned to and just select it. Last & definitely most important for me at least, I was trash starting out cause the aim in fallout just feels wonky, using VATS can save you a lot of trouble in fights & it refreshes fairly quick so it’s not somethin to worry about over using. Loving the vids & your personality is really entertaining, thanks for the great content & keep it up!😁

Then, after a period of time they will revive. Dogmeat (or any other companion) is NEVER hurt for more than a few moments and if you go somewhere else they will find you. If you fast travel they will arrive with you as usual.

The best way to store power armor when you're not using it is to leave it at a settlement, but if you leave the fusion core in the armor an npc will equip it if they're in combat. Fusion cores can be found in the ammo tab, and they'll be separated by how much they're depleated

Also never deplete them fully. Get them down of a few percent and sell them as they are worth the same fully charged or almost empty. I think the disappear when fully discharged.

Pro tip. Whenever you leave your Power Armor anywhere, take out the fusion core. You'll get much better and cooler PA as you level up.

One of the big advantages of Fallout 76 is that you can carry your power armour in your inventory and with the right perk it only weighs 10 pounds. You can also get a machine for your camp which recharges Fusion Cores.

You can assign a settler to a guard post by going into building mode, walking up to a settler and select them (A button or whatever) then goto the post and select the it. Please use your flashlight, lots of stuff hiding in the shadows.

That first ghoul encounter was hilarious - good idea to use vats to shoot their legs off so they can't run at you, then take them out as they crawl around... I'm cringing at the lack of saves though (unless you're saving more but editing it out), I'm constantly saving pretty much after every encounter - you never know what might be round the next corner that might kill you, or knowing Bethesda games, crash or glitch out in some way! Been watching all your F4 playthrough's so far, I think yours are the most entertaining I've come across!

'Completed' Skyrim and F4 a couple of times since, now on a character just trying to get all the Steam trophies - think I've got 8 to get now, then I may play something that isn't a Bethesda game... :) It's great fun watching you learn the hard way about the F4 mechanics! Hello Liz, I love watching you play Fallout 4. I have the game since it came out (2016?), and I played it for many hours, several times through, with all the DLCs. I play it differently, since I know everything, and plan how to go through it. But watching you, as a first time player, brings back fond memories from my first run through the game (at the time the DLCs were not out yet, while I still played Automatron came out and then Far Harbor and the Vault DLC). I remember how long it took me to reach DC. I looked at the map - and like you I decided to follow the tracks. This actually works and is less dangerous - if you know where to go. I did not. I died a lot on the way, and it took ages. It still was a great time. If you know the game you will play it differently, I could go to DC straight from Vault, without visiting Sanctuary or any of the other locations, Concord, Lexington and so on. I do not recommend it, but it is possible. So I hope you have fun playing and discovering the game - I am sure I will have fun to watch you playing. 🙂

I only use Power Armor when I know I'm going up against something big or heavy rads. Otherwise I store it at a Settlement in the Power Armor Station. You just need to wear body armor pieces that you've not been collecting. ;) Make sure you take the Fusion Core with you though. You know that time Preston hopped in at Concord? Yeah... if you leave it in there any settler can get in and run around wasting your core power. Lol

Hi Liz! Happy to see you now explore the world. This world is dubbed “The Commonwealth.” The area of the Boston area. And also, I would advise that pipe weapons like the pipe pistol isn’t very powerful even though you will have ammo for it very common because Raider enemies use it so much due to how easy it is to get it. It’s like Iron weapons from Skyrim if you remember, those were the weakest ones because it was at the beginning of that game. So, pipe weapons are weak. If you see anything that is more powerful, keep it. And then I would sell the pipe weapons for bottle caps, the currency that use. 😊❤️. That’s what I would say but it is your style. 😇❤️

Pipe weapons are home made level weapons, a super simple firearm using a pipe as a barrel. Probably way more accurate in this game than they should be.

Feel free to take your time. It's a big game with a LOT of little places and hidden things. Exploration is fine. Grab some armor, go to a workbench and beef it up. You are gonna be running without Power Armor unless you have a lot of cores. Sneaking and quieter movement is not a bad thing when no power armor. You can take a mod off a type of gun and then put on another of the same type of gun...to improve what you have. Love watching...have fun!

A fusion core is the power source for the power armor. Using it will deplete the fusion core. Using it to run will deplete it faster than walking. Just like driving at 70 MPH will consume more fuel than driving at 55 MPH.

People may have said before, but when crafting/making settlement stuff it'll use items from your inventory as well as the settlement storage. So that pumpkin basket you have will at some point get used without you noticing. There is also a placement 'exploit' that lets you craft something ontop of a welcome/bath mat and then you can move the bath mat to place the item. the game will ignore he item on top and use the collison of the mat instead.

Some minor tips and avoiding spoilers: 1 Leave your power armor in Sanctuary and keep your eyes out fusion cores till you have a couple of them. 2 Collect Bobbleheads and Comic books, as they really improve your charcter. 3 Use VATS in combat (if I remember well it's LB on your controller). It saves you tons of ammunition and kills everything in the fastest way if used in the best way (so don't use it with a pistol or a minigun when you're over ten feet away. Use a snipergun or something like that in those situations).

(7:39) For future runs, there is *always* a sniper rifle upstairs in this house. It's the easiest way to get a gun with a scope in the early game. (8:55) I have a personal reason for hating the owner of Longneck Lukowski's. (10:30) I usually leave suits parked at a settlement with a power armor workstation, like Sanctuary Hills or Red Rocket Truck Stop. Cores are not rechargeable, but there are plenty of them around when you learn where to look. Some merchants may also have them. (13:00) Doc Anderson is a great random encounter. A doctor's services cost less than stimpaks and radaway, and they always cure you 100%. Doctors are especially good in Survival difficulty, because they can cure your rads without making you susceptible to other illnesses. (14:25) Dogmeat's AI is programmed to have him roam ahead of you, looking for things. Kinda neat. (28:39) To sleep, you need to find a bed. To wait, you need to find a chair or a couch. Re; hoarding, my current playthrough I have collected 43k in junk items, I grab literally everything, there is a perk that lets you carry more and fast travel when over incumbered. Donut! When in workshop mode, "store all junk" puts all your scavenged items into that settlement(not weapons, armor or clothes). What's there can be used to build in that location. When your settlements start to expand, you'll be able to assign trade routes between settlements, which will allow you to use supplies at either. Also, since you have no ammo for the minigun, fast travel to Sanctuary and put it in your workbench. It's heavy! You'll be able to hoard more without it. Go there before your fusion core runs out, then leave the power armor there also if you don't have another one. When you level up, you don't have to put all points in the top row. You can customize your skills by selecting traits down the list.

You are walking around irradiated. It will soon start depleting you if you don't do something about it. And you have passed up the opportunity for a doctor to cure your rads for a few caps (or barter), plus you have been carrying around rad x which keeps you from gaining more radiation and rad away which will remove the rads you currently have the same way stim packs fix damage.

A quick word of advice: Once you arrive at a settlement, the settlers will ask you to help them with a mission. During the mission kill the bad guys (raiders, ghouls, green mutants, etc) and finish the task. THEN, go back and collect items (aka junk) and clothing from the raiders/ghouls/ etc. Collect AFTER because during the mission items will weigh you down. You can go to Codsworth and have him pick items up when you've hit your weight limit. Your limit as of now is 250lbs (310 with power armor on). As of now you can't fast travel if your weight is over 250 lbs. After collecting items from the mission, go back to the settlement and start arming and clothing your settlers. Click on the settlers and trade (not barter). The right side is them, the left side is you. Once you give them weapons, they'll need ammo too. One bullet for them is infinite...must be a glitch. When in the settlement workshop mode, go up to a person and THEN you can assign them a task: READ THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SCREEN!!! It gives you ALL the answers! You tend to ignore the bottom of your screen.

Fusion cores are a little tough to come by early on, so the more you can leave the power armor in Sanctuary and equip the best armor you find on your character. Crouching can increase your stealth and damage done. The vanilla game doesn't really let you recharge fusion cores.

@ 7:20, you can invest perk points into luck branch to find more ammo and loot and caps in containers (boxes, cabinets and etc). You can also invest perk points to the intelligence branch to make fusions cores last longer. Those perks might need Luck/intelligence to be at a certain level first and/or might require your overall level to be at a certain level. By branch I mean the perks that are in those SPECIAL categories, not the actual SPECIAL at the top.

You may already know, but you don't have to collect a dozen different rifles of the same type. Weapon upgrades can be freely removed from the weapon workshop, stored there, and freely transferred between the same weapon type, which saves materials. The same goes for armor upgrades. Btw, armor pieces can be put on the suit, it works similarly to Skyrim

Been watching your vids. Brilliant! Don't forget to modify your weapons and armour, when you can. If you run out of materials, you can learn the 'duplication glitch'. Works in vanilla. Tip to using it: rock your thumb from one button to the next to see both menus quickly, when playing on consol. (Works well even after latest update with higher frame rate) Rock that thumb! It takes practice. Hope this helps!

In your Pip Boy, go to the category (top line) INV, and at the bottom left of the screen you will see "000/000" for example. The first three digits is the amount of weight you are carrying, and the second three digits is the max amount before you can only walk to where you are going

Power Armor increases your strength, so your weight limit for carrying loot also goes up. You can also give your companions (Dogmeat included) a bunch of stuff to be able to loot more without having to stop back at base. And yeah, there's a weird bug that's always been around that if you explode a mine or somesuch and then reload an earlier save, then the mine will just be gone. That sweetroll looks pretty good for being 200 years old.

If You take the fusion core out of the power Armor it will stay where You leave it with all the armor pieces inside it. But if You leave the PA with a core inside of the settlement then someone else could jump into it and use it, even enemies.

Maybe a spoiler for your fusion core dilemma , just past the point where you met Trashcan Carla is a little diner and after dealing with the problem you encounter there you can buy things from Trudy ( who is the merchant there ) . She MAY have some for sale or even Carla MAY have some to buy when you next encounter her again . There will be lots of other merchants that you will encounter during your travels and each one MAY have a specific item you may possibly be looking for . While in power armor your fusion core will have a steady drain on it ( normal usage ) but when you're in combat or you just sprint or run that drain becomes heavier , tip is to NOT make your power armor usage a luxury thing . Also remember to remove the fusion core when you exit your power armor or somebody else may get into it and walk away with it .

I know you're not using mods here, but adding Workshop Plus will add flying while you build in a settlement. I find it indispensable and makes building soooo much easier. :)

A bit of advice regarding shooting. Slow down your rate of fire and take more time to aim. Also, stealth sniping works as well in fallout as stealth archery does in Skyrim. Sneak attacks do a lot more damage and you can pick off enemies one at a time.

if you want to connect all the workshops together so they share your inventory, then choose the local leader perk under charisma. then you can store your junk in any workshop and not get over encumbered. you can also build a recruitment beacons so more settlers go to that base. all my playthroughs I always spend house looting and scrapping everything in the workshops. I even built wood floors over and over again to get a bunch of levels before leaving Sanctuary Hills lol. loving your playthough so far and seeing it through your perspective

There is a power generator you can build in settlements, i think its the fusion generator. The way the generator looks is what you should keep your eyes open for to find more fusion cores. If you are going to packrat everything make use of the fast travel system, you can just port home and offload your inventory and port back. And you can talk to your companion's, including the dog. Just look at them and interact with them when they're close by. Dogmeat has some useful skills and tools.
