I had to stop listening to her because as a mother I can empathize with her pain, but she is unbelievably dismissing the girls family. It’s all about her and what she wants. Not one “I’m sorry” or “I’m sorry for what my son has caused” probation is an absolute slap to the face of the family. She’s more upset that he won’t be around to take care of her financially while the girls parents had to bury their child, she’s lucky she still gets to see hers.

What this guy did was just horrific, I am not defending his actions. I am a little irritated by how people are coming at Mrs. Chen. She is a victim too. She has every right to beg for mercy for her son. In her culture, her family would be ostracized for his actions, completely shamed, she knows this. People also do not understand that many emotions and English words get lost in translation as there is no direct word to word translation. Her statement may have come across as selfish, but it really wasn't. People who speak Chinese can tell. I'm sure if given the opportunity to just speak freely in her own language -no interpretation to English, she would talk about her sorrow for the victim's family.

And the victim and her family? That is more important than giving him a second chance! They have no second chance!!!

Why doesn't anybody tell her that her crying doesn't help her son or anybody?
@pattmahiney11 күн бұрын
Yo so the translator kept saying, "can you say that again? I didn't hear you," on behalf of the mother and then the prosecutor would repeat the question..... But I'm pretty sure she was trying to tell the interpreter that she couldn't hear her cause why would she ask him to repeat a question in English??? 😂😂😂

Just because she can speak some English, does not mean she can speak it well. I'm very surprised at how people are coming at Mrs. Chen. She is also a victim in this, she did not commit the crime. People should be more understanding of her culture.
