There's been a theory going around that Toriyama based DB's multiverse on different shows/anime he's seen. For Example: • Universe 11 is based on the DC universe,and classic Senthai (Shows like Power Rangers): - Belmod and Margarita are the Joker and Harley Quinn. - The Posing of the Pride Troopers. • Universe 2 is based on Sailor Moon: - Magical girl like transformations. - Their Destroyer's design is based off a old villain. • Universe 1 is based on Yu-Gi-Oh: - It's Destroyer looks like a weak monster called Kuriboh, and his shoots off swords of Light like the spell card used in the show.

Every other universe was a genre. To me, it was a metaphor for literally being everything, the entire multiverse of fiction, being forced into a tournament against each other.

IT does SOOOO much justice for all of the Z Fighters present in this tournament. Like for example: It's actually GOHAN Yes GOHAN who fights and ends up knocking out Kefla along with himself in a BADASS EPIC fight. Ultimate Gohan is so damn powerful, he gave a fused SS2 and Legendary SS a hard time. I forget about what else happens, but I know Piccolo has a great moment in there too. Definitely give the manga a look if you're curious about the differences, because there are some major ones. OH OH AND AND!!! Gohan is wearing the purple outfit that Piccolo gives him, instead of Gokus orange battle gi.
