One day I hear bloodcurdling shrieking from the other room and I run in to see a bayonet doppler sitting on his screen. Excitement ensues. 15 minutes later an even crazier shriek came from the same room after my brother bet the skin and Won about 4000$ worth of skins on a trading site. Fast forward to today. He is 24 years old and has lost almost 50,000 dollars of his saving that hes worked for to the stock market. 16 years ago I started playing Counter-Strike Source ... for a few hours and declared it to be trash because I couldn't hit a thing. As a CoD player, my brain couldn't comprehend my bullets not going where my crosshair is. I gave it another try some time later and I collected 300 hours in total for CSS, never really understanding the game. In 2014, my boys and me started with CSGO. Since we had a "veteran" with us, I now started to learn some basics. Countless KZbin tutorials built me up and I got over 3000 hours by 2018, reaching Global Elite and FaceIt level 9 (never made it to 10, but I mainly played MM). Now CS2 made me return and I quickly realized it's hard to keep up with the pace. Some people never dropped the game and have become insanely good. It's only now that I acquired a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of the game, bringing me back on track recently. What I'm trying to say is: This game looks shallow (like she said in the video; 'you see one round, you have seen them all'), but in reality it has so much depth. The difference to other competitive games, or even competitive shooters like R6 Siege and Valorant, is that the players can actually explore the depth of the game naturally. Valorant and R6 have so much variables going on all the time: New maps, new operators, new gadgets, new skills. Your focus is spread so wide in these games, even the professionals are held back by so much shallow knowledge about the game. Counter-Strike delivers the bare minimum of a good game and people strive to master it. It's beautiful.

exacly, the reason cs is so complex is the fact that its simple and never changes. that is why the same map goes through 10 different metas across its lifespan, because nothing changes and so the losing teams have to think of a way to counter that and so on, in a way cs is the football of gaming, the only difference being the fact that you arent allowed to drop the game for more than 2-3 days before having to play for another month to get back to where you left off :P

I quit CS:GO for good probably over 4 years ago, after sinking over a thousand or so hours into it over the course of probably the same amount of time. At this point I have probable been out longer than I was ever in. The game actively punished you for things you can't even control (like a bad team) and then when their servers would crash (also their fault and nothing i could do about it) the game banned me for quitting a competitive match. After that happened one too many times I quick and never looked back at CS again. Probably extended the days in my life as a result.
