I commented this on IG, but it had to be repeated here: I bought The Spring Kitchen yesterday! I absolutely love your photography in this one. The accents of purple and yellow go so well with everything. I was just wanting to make a crisp for the first time and was hoping you had a recipe for topping! Such perfect timing! - I also just made the pasta recipe last night for dinner! SO GOOD! It's going to be one of my go-to's from now on. Thank you again for all of your wonderful content, Kaetlyn. I love your videos. If I may, fall ( after a couple of frosts ) is when dandelion roots are at their best. This isn’t a criticism as they are beneficial even now but their energy is being used for flowering in spring. Your rhubarb crisp looks comforting and yummy!
@quietintheland2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 🌼 I have heard that said about fall roots, however I would argue early spring before they flower is just as well. They're more tender and easier to dig out and at that point have not spent their energy through an entire growing season!
@cristhomas39452 жыл бұрын
@@quietintheland I agree with harvesting Dandelion root in the spring. Anytime between fall and spring are good, however, Spring is best because they have store up all their energy over winter to get ready to produce flowers and more leaves which makes their potency for medicinal purposes even stronger.🌱😊 Spring Dandy Roots are incredibly powerful medicine. 💝

Your kitchen is cozy and beautiful every season! Pretty bright colours are for Spring! I have a question. Our cottage was full of dandelions, but I didn't harvest them, because I was told I should have done it before they had the flowers. I would love to know when the right time is to make sure we get all the benefits from them. I saw some flowers on yours, that's why I ask.
@quietintheland2 жыл бұрын
Aww! Thank you so much 🥰 Yes typically when harvesting roots or leaves from any plant it should be done before they flower. I needed to film despite it being late in the season, which is why mine had flowers. You certainly could still harvest them now, they just may not be as potent. Early spring before they flower or late fall, like someone else mentioned in the comment section, would be best! I tend to not be so picky. Things get done when they get done around here😆🥰

This was so lovely, Kaetlyn! The lemonade was absolutely stunning. 😍 I have two questions: have you found that stainless steel ice tray easy to use and sturdy? I've been looking for one just like it. Also, do you have a brand of kitchen towels that are absorbent? I'm sick of mine just spreading water on my dishes instead of actually drying. 😅 Thank you!
@shereemcmahon22852 жыл бұрын
I buy my dish towels at the dollar tree and they are super absorbent! Just be sure to buy the 100% cotton ones. The pictures on them don’t really last long but they are the most absorbent towels I’ve ever used!
@YeshuaKingMessiah2 жыл бұрын
Buy BATH handtowels I get them used even, if they’re still like new. They absorb alot. Way better than so called dishcloths. I pick them up on sale anywhere I can find them. I use them constantly as I rinse my hands constantly while working in kitchen. I never wipe up counters with them. Use ur wrung out dish cloth for that. Rewring it and get more liquid. Repeat till mostly dry. Again, buy QUALITY dishcloths. U need quality tools, not decorative items.
@quietintheland2 жыл бұрын
As long as I let the tray thaw on the counter for 2-5 minutes before cracking, it works wonderfully! I will say like the tray I have from Lehman's better than the brand I have from Amazon. As for absorbant dish towels..I feel like I am in the same boat as you! I have collected various sets over time. These are probably my favorite ones: www.amazon.com/dp/B012GGS1WE?tag=onamzkaetlynk-20&linkCode=ssc&creativeASIN=B012GGS1WE&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2VHHYH92UMWTZ&th=1

Your photography and color is spot on--but sometimes, I am left wondering how you use something? like tincture of dandelion root--looks pretty--but why would I make it? what is it for? (also, I hope that you save some of those dandelion greens--the rabbit has the right idea--if they are young sprouts, they make a very nice salad green for humans as well--but if too old, they can be tough and bitter--so be aware and eat early in the season--with dressing, of course)...dts/usa

@quietintheland2 жыл бұрын
Nope! The plant matter in tinctures do not need to be dried first because you are using alcohol. If you were infusing oils however, the herbs need to be dried completely to prevent bacteria growth.
