Yeah, they may have looked at her as a threat to them. God don't like "ugly". They could have been compassionate knowing how desperate she was to make it but hey they thought "Ha! Ha!, you're finished and we're going straight to the Top. In the US in the 1990's there were a lot of Kids who went on a US Show called "Star Search" where the "Winners" don't make it and the "Losers" become Superstars. Justin Timberlake, Alanis Morissette, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera can attest to that. (The Young Man who beat her at last report was a Coffee Barista). Even Beyoncé was in a Pre-Destiny's Child Group called Girlz Time and "Lost". So you never know.

This reminds me of The US Cable Show VH1 Behind The Music. Another Show was "Driven" where you see that their beginnings were far from glamorous. As for Nadine lying, it's the oldest cliché in the book. On American Idol, a lot of them had criminal records and lied about it, and one Contestant Corey Clarke was accused of having an Affair with former Judge Paula Abdul.

If they were known in America they would have been the Subject of a VH1 Show called "Driven" where their Family & Friends talk about their early years, their struggles, their early bands, school days etc and how things slowly picked up for them.

Nadine's biggest problem at that time was that she was too good to sing with The Irish Popstars, she would have stood out and that may have caused resentment. I've seen it on The US Version from 2000 when Shaunda Johnston who everyone thought was a Shoo-In didn't make it and her Mother was furious. Not because she didn't make it but they didn't tell her why. "She's African American". The biggest Irony is that The Girls who were chosen were Three Latinas, One Hawaiian & Irish, and Nicole Scherzinger who is Russian, Chinese, Filipino & Hawaiian. It was later discovered that they got a really bad Contract with Warner Brothers Records.

I know that The Irish Popstars must be devastated knowing that she made it and they didn't. Sometimes a rejection turns out to be a good thing. Either way they are a real life Cinderella story.

No, I'm not I've never even met her. However I've been watching Shows like this since 2001 and I'm a self described "Musicologist" where I have read all kinds of Books about Rock Stars, Watched Documentaries and the like. Nadine's situation isn't anything new. She just had that "thing" that drew people to her.

You know more about them than I do. I live in Canada. I only found out about them recently. No matter what happened they are all survivors. I said this on another Channel, they were lucky unlike most Girl Groups. They took turns singing lead, they came out of it with Bank, Savvy Businesswomen, they didn't burn down a Boyfriend's House (Lisa Left Eye Lopes), didn't die broke (Florence Ballard) and didn't have members who got kicked out and got "replaced" like Destiny's Child. For some reason when I hear her Voice, I can't help but think she'd be perfect to do a US Soap Opera Days Of Our Lives where she could play a Distant Relative Of The Brady Family who run the Town's Pub.

The Past Two Winners of American Idol never became successful. Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls got her start in the US Version of Popstars as a part of Eden's Crush with the Song Get Over Yourself but there was resentment because she was getting all of the attention. Nicole's been performing for 15 Years but she's never gotten big like Rihanna or even Beyonce.
