It's been 8 years since Affection was removed, versus the 3 years it was around. Friendship evolution has been Sylveons evolution mechanic almost 3 times longer than Affection was.

Feel free to correct any inaccuracies I have left below in my comment. 3:26 Actually, I think that in the original story of Little Red Riding Hood, Little Red was actually an adult, and I think was a… “adult funtime” worker, to put it in a way that won’t potentially flag me. So in that original story, Little Red and the wolf actually fluffed, before he literally ate her. Now, I am not an expert on the subject, but I believe that story was before the Brothers Grimm version, so their version was still dark, but not that weird. So technically, the one on the right is more historically accurate.
