They should have a little exhibit at the Rock Hall of Fame about these chicks. Truly, literally pioneers of Rock and Roll. So happy for their long-overdue recognition!

OK this is the play, wow after all their stuggles and hard work, and life getting in the way, it must be really wonderful for the two survivors to see a play about what they did all the way back when. So very cool, I'm their newest fan. Go ladies!!!!!!
@therespectedlex97942 жыл бұрын
A play, yeah I'm glad someone pointed it out. There's a vid where two of them, including the drummer (seen here?) talk about the experience. The singer looks but doesn't sound so much like the original. They died years ago due to drink and drugs.
@jeffbosch16972 жыл бұрын
@@therespectedlex9794 They died at the ages of 65 and 71. I'd say they earned the dignity of dying of old age, not from drinking and drugs.
@therespectedlex97942 жыл бұрын
@@jeffbosch1697 I didn't know that sorry. I thought the singer, she was despairing, into drugs, and didn't know what to do after the band stopped. Sounds a bit like me, without the drugs.

@@therespectedlex9794 In another Beatles parallel, like Pete Best she soldiered on, determined to make it as a musician. (I'm not an expert on the band, but anything Mersey related fascinates me, maybe because the first songs I remember hearing on the radio back in the mid sixties were Ferry Across the Mersey and Hello Goodbye, still two of my favorites.)
@therespectedlex97942 жыл бұрын
@@jeffbosch1697 Anything Mersey fascinates you? Have you ever been to Liverpool? It is notoriously crime ridden. It's Irishness and immigration seems to make it very agitating. It's people are amusing, and friendly but sometimes a bit silly, and even hostile. Mersey beat had a gentleness which isn't quite the same as Liverpool now, even the accent and how people talk. I sometimes wonder if there's anything else to it.

How much you wanna bet the young girl in the middle of the backup singers is a daughter or granddaughter of the drummer. Anyone know who she is related to in the band. and damn... Grandma can still play the shit out of those drums! She can still keep the beat steady after all these years. Wow.

They were NOT the first ever all female group Groups composed solely of women began to emerge with the advent of rock and roll. Among the earliest all-female rock bands to be signed to a record label were Goldie & the Gingerbreads, to Atlantic Records in 1964, The Pleasure Seekers with Suzi Quatro to Hideout Records in 1964 and Mercury Records in 1968, The Feminine Complex to Athena Records in 1968, and Fanny (who pioneered the all-female band sound in the early to mid-1970s) in 1969 when Mo Ostin signed them to Warner Bros. Records. There were also others, such as The Liverbirds (1962-1967), the Ace of Cups (1967), The Heart Beats (1968), and Ariel (1968-1970).
